Which Licence Plate to choose ?

Does it really?

There are 2967 E39 BMW 530i Sport Saloons registered in the UK (Trivia: Only 437 have manual gearboxes)

There are 4453 8L Audi S3 Hatches registered in the UK.

This means that for every E39 BMW 530i Sport, there are almost two 8L Audi S3's.

Sorry, I forgot I was up against the Text Book Hero. Do try and get out a bit a bit more :p

I can just see you scrabbling to get your spreadsheet out for that one :P

I just wore a set of tyres out in 7000 miles, I don't tend to drive around wearing a smoking jacket and some driving gloves. That said, I don't see the point in not conforming to laws which are pretty damn easy to conform to and where conforming has no real effect on me.

Big wow. I could trash my (dare I say the name) Falkens by merely farting in the Evo.

Again, I was referring to your curious outlook on life rather you ability to proper trash ur tyrez blud.

Yet again Fox you have hijacked a thread and gave negative and unhelpful related thread comments, you seem to stalk every thread a right and love to continue with your Audi "Bashing"

I'm glad someone else notices. You see, he's not blatant about it, just the odd snipe here about them "all being the same" or "nothing special" which he knows will get him some attention. But purposefully ensures he has his escape route of "what he really meant". If all else fails the "why is everyone picking on me?" approach will do.

Do me a favour. I have to sit here everyday and watch your inflammatory crap. From not being able to comprehend someone for wanting to be different, to getting properly bent out of shape because someone mentions their iPhone in a thread. Oh and lets not forget getting upset because the Conservatives didn't get in unanimously :p

I've got legal standard font plates with the GB Euro flag on from Halfords on my motor. I can't stand chavvy illegal spaced and illegal font plates.

Oh and if you want to know how many of a certain model of car are registered in the UK, all you need to do is email DVLA and ask! ;)

I guess it was too much to expect a 'Wow, I didnt know that. In that case I was mistaken' from you when you could instead just be insulting, eh?

The reason I made the 'A3' comment' was to highlight how ridiculous your point about 'rare' and 'not rare' for the purposes of numberplate fonts was. Carbon fibre text with a big logo would look as naff on a Mclaren F1 as it would on a Focus 1.6. I just found it particularly amusing that you were wrong in your assumption that the S3 was rare, so added some figures.

I don't personally give a **** whether you agree or not. I did have a several paragraph reply typed out but I can't be bothered. We've been doing this for years, nothing ever changes, you enjoy it possibly more than I do.

I was talking about Numberplates, you were as usual spoiling for a fight with me. You tried to do it in that other thread about Audi's as well after I asked a question I'm sure half the thread were thinking, but I ignored that.

I think its time to learn your 'crusade' is only ever going to result in threads turning into arguments between us. If thats your aim, then carry on.

I'll leave the following quote in place so everyone can see your attempts to drag iPhones and the Tory party into a thread about numberplates :)

Wow.... motors appears to have turned into a competition of how big an argument can be made out of the most trivial subjects.

I'm risking getting dragged into this discussion by saying this , but maybe , just maybe he's keeps on commenting on your posting style to maybe highlight and hope you maybe tone down your putdowns/advice/joking comments blank out the ones that don't apply.

Just a thought and 2C worth :)

I think people need to stop taking these things so personally/seriously. I've gotten into "discussions" with fox before and got wound up about it, but it's really not worth it. It's an internet discussion forum - it's here to be enjoyed. He still makes plenty digs at me, but I just ignore them and it avoids this sort of escalation.

People forget this isn't like a lot of the owners club forums etc, where no matter what your taste is, responses are all in unanimous agreement. People here are happy to air their opinions and it seems to wind people up. I think the forum is better for it though, it attracts people who see it as a community who become regulars - I'd rather that than a forum of randoms without opinions of their own. Heated discussions are great, personal insults and unnecessary arguments are less so...

I agree.

You'll note that as usual, in this thread, I've not told anyone to get out more, called them a text book hero, etc etc. Moral high ground guy, on the other hand ;) oops does that count? :p

But do we REALLY need another 'posting style' debate? We had one only the other week! And about 58 before that. It's like running into a brick wall.

That's saying something, because that NEVER happens!

I think we should just create an argument thread, to keep the debates semi-relevant :)

This has all been very interesting!
But has nobody mentioned the other factor - oblong or square?

If the car is designed for square plates, then square, otherwise oblong. Square plates on the front of your average hatchback is uber-chav

Here we go..........

I apologise in general for last night, was in a bad mood about something else and so my language was probably a bit more colourful than usual.

However, (there was always going to be an however :p) I stand by the bulk of my posts even if I don't about the way I delivered it.

Thats fine by me, because likewise I don't (obviously) really care what you think either. Neither do I enjoy picking you up on things. At all.

I wasn't spoiling for a fight, I never really am, even with you - just was in a bad mood and thus, in normal circumstances you would have got a similar response, just not as colourful.

You can try and second guess the "crowd" and think for them, but i'm sure that they are more than capable of voicing their own opinion, without you speculating on their behalf.

Fact remains, I have no reason to be in the VAG camp. Some of the cars are nice, but I have no real desire to own anything VAG at the moment. In fact more often than not, many of the "triers" I have in the Evo are Audi drivers.

Regardless, I notice you snipe at VAG cars, and to be honest I don't even think you notice that you are doing it half the time. You're so set in your ways, that you can't help but convey what you really think even on unrelated points about them.

Thats why you get the responses off Robbie G et al. I think Robbie's retorts are a little puerile, but they usually get a laugh out of me, purely because he's dealing with you in the easiest way - something I won't do.

I could say exactly the same thing to you except swapping the term ""crusade" is" with ""attitude and bad manners" are"

If you continue to be unnecessarily rude and post to wind people up, then i'll keep picking you up on it. Thats something you'll have to deal with, not that given your post count it will be a particularly big deal :p

It's called balance. If I didn't do it then you'd just be worse.

You talk as if it's a new thing.

Totally valid.

What I find most amusing, but not really surprising at all, is that you are totally different IRL. The arrogance and outspoken rudeness simply didn't exist at the meet.

I've my own thoughts as to why that is, and similar thoughts have been vocalised by others in the past but maybe its a little easier and more comfortable to be the way you are without the person in question in front of you.

I suppose that is the real problem I have with you. You don't post like you act in real life. I do. To me, your posts are a facade, and perhaps an outlet on the type of person you want to be on the street. Who knows.

As for the iPhone and Tory comments, on my life, I never meant to delete those last night. And whereas I wouldn't have posted them in a calmer state, thanks for posting them ;)

Put him on ignore then? You seem to follow him around and moan a lot.

Don't be ridiculous. This is a discussion forum, not a BBFC-esque censorfest.

Likewise, if it bothers you, you know where the button is.

Again, as much as we disagree, I didn't mean to be so abrasive last night and the insults were unnecessary.

Hugs and kisses,

With love from Brighton,

Gaijin xxxxxx

Apologies for taking the thread back in line but I'd just get the cleanest looking plate you can, basically all it has is the number plate, no logo, no post code, no stupid lettering etc...

Oh and I don't like Iphones, Tories or people from Brighton who blow kisses at me * :p

*without making it worth my while...

No post code or BSU number and it's an illegal plate and it could fail an MOT.
I know two people who have had MOT fails for lacking such information on the plate.

Mine have the BSU number and post code but in the same color as the plate, so if you look really closely and squint you can just about see it when 3/4inch away.

Looks totally clean from another further away.

Ah well you're OK then - Halford's purchase I'm assuming?
I thought you meant they weren't printed on there and that can cause an MOT failure - which I've seen twice.

Couple of years ago people did what they liked.
MOT stations are becoming more strict and so they should do really.
