is my new 5770 broke(arrived today)

I had a thread about this a while back on here.

I sent it back to them (OCUK) and they received it on a Saturday morning, it was on its way back to me by 10am that Saturday claiming they had tested it and it worked fine. Which is total rubbish but that's how it goes. I have tested it on the following setups

Asus P5K Pro - Intel E6600 Dual Core - 4 gig DDR2 - Zalman 600W PSU - locks
Foxconn ELA - Intel E6600 Dual Core - 4 gig DDR2 - Zalman 600W PSU - locks
Gigabyte MA770 - AMD Phenom II 955 3.16 gig - 4 Gig Corsair DD3 - Corsair 750W PSU - locks

Load up a game, turn on AA or AF, locks within minutes. I clearly got a duff card but I can't get it replaced so I am out the cost. This is going off topic but obviously in my experience the Sapphire 5770's are not to be trusted.

OCUK Simply put it in a PC, if it switchs on then it works in there eyes.

They WONT run a game mate, they are lazy and want your pennys!

Try using the DVI to VGA connector another fix once you're into bios is set the PCIE speed to 101 then switch back to DVI.

This could be a million things or something simple like a loose connection or the card not being seated correctly or in dodgey PCIE slot..

My 5770s have been doing this on both my UD5, and just yesterday it happened on my R3E.

I have two, and they only work without blue squares of death when installed one way around.

However, with the good card in the first slot, a few times I have switched on my PC to get nothing but a blank screen and no startup beep. I open the case, push the card down a little, wiggle the power connector, make sure the DVI connector is properly inserted, remove the crossfire cable, and nothing works. I still have a beepless black screen when I boot up.

Then I swap the cards around into the order that gives me blue squares of death, connect everything up, and it works fine, including the card that wasnt previously working when running in the second slot.

Then I start getting blue squares of death :(

Next step, I think, but if the good 5770 is working in slot 2, why wont it work in slot 1? So I open up my PC, swap them back around into the good order, and then somehow it just works. The PC can be left on 24/7 with no problems.

Then on a few random days after I've switched my PC off, I switch it on, and all I get is the black screen with no boot or startup beep :(

Then I have to repeat this nightmare cycle of tinkering, and then it works.... for some time ..... then it fails ..... then I tinker and it works!!! .... only to then fail again some time later .....

Its only happened 3 or 4 times though.

can a mod close this thread for me as i have since got a new rig and everything is running fine don't know why this thread has appeard again lol

Oh noez, I need answers for my problem now, I'll take over the thread if you dont want it please :).
