Stealership service debacle! Oil service nightmare!

It's a £23,000 2008 BMW owned by the lease company, of course you can't!

Are you sure you are right?

It's PCP and thus according to the DVLA is it not owned by Lucero?

I would have just pulled over as soon as I saw the smoke and not even attempted to drive it home. You must have at least started it after seeing the oil level too high message which the garage are going to question. They will also know the mileage of the car following the service so if you have driven it further it is going to be easy to prove.

It will be a massive bill with a new engine probably a new turbo as it's oil seals will have been weakened. The DPF may need replaced if oil has contaminated it.

Oh dear sounds messy. Almost seems like its better to run a car with relatively low oil compared to too much!!

Hope they sort it out for you, but looking at the list of things that can/probably will go wrong they will try everything to get out of it, no doubt also quizzing the ECU as to the log of events.

I agree though, Im never going back to a main dealer again, FSH or not. They are complete numpties and not only are they wrecking cars left right and centre mechanically but also destroying paintwork in the process (thats another story for another day) and charging for it too with insane prices.

How does that differ from most garages with the exception that if you go to the main dealer you've got somewhere to complain to above the garage?

Crap workmanship isn't a main dealer problem, it's a garage problem, the trick is finding a good garage, and that can just as easily be a main dealer as an independent, I've used good and bad of both, although the worst by far was an independent.

Its quite simple. I pulled up outside home, with smoke everywhere. I rang BMW EA who were coming to recover my car (although they couldn't provide a courtesy car until this morning).

I checked iDrive, oil level too high.

I then went to move the car so that the recovery vehicle could get in front of it easier which is when the revs ran high and then wouldn't start. So yes, in theory, I drove it, about 5 metres!

I made the other post as an update to my dipstick photo to say that now, the oil had come out the bottom and iDrive was saying oil level was now low. Recovery vehicle came, took my car away.

Subsequently, I now have a 3series 320d M Sport with shocking runflats which make the suspension in the E60 seem like a pillow. :)

I went up to Woods today and spoke to the guy who I had spoken to yesterday afternoon.

He was remaining very tight lipped but suggested that my turbo charger had packed up in a completely unrelated incident! Now, mechanically, based on the fact the engine revved on its own, suggests he could be right given that the engine was running on its own oil. However, he couldn't provide an answer to the iDrive menu or the fact I found it highly unlikely a 37k mile 30 month old car would have a bown TC.

I shall now have to await monday morning :(

:(

Why couldn't you just have rolled it? If something like that happened to my car i'd not want to start it at all.

You realy should have not started it up again Lucero :(

Where did all this oil come flying out of then?! Oil doesn't usualy get ejected like that unless somethings ******

OP: I generally refuse to let some complete tit with 2 F's in GCSE art and history to fix my car for £50 an hour.

Yes. Because every Main Dealer Technician is an idiot with no qualifications. I mean, surely if they were "smart" they'd have chosen a better career , right?

You're right, I probably shouldn't have, but as the car was just smoking and idling rough, I didn't really expect impending doom, plus, being an Auto, there's an annoying procedure to release the transmission to be able to move it, although I had to do that in the end when the recovery truck arrived.

It's dropped out the bottom of the engine. At first it didn't seem a lot, a mug full of oil on the road, but then I opened the bonnet and the undertray is saturated in oil. :(

If its the Turbo in an unrelated incident surely its covered by warranty?

Still find it odd you'd make a post from your phone saying you are stood by the side of the road awaiting a recovery lorry when you were actually at your own house but we'll never really know so we might as well drop it.

Exactly, it will be covered. How unrelated it is, I don't know, given the iDrive information. It will all be logged somewhere for someone to see hopefully. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I was at home, I just went out when they rang to say they were a few mins away. As it happened, they ended up going down the wrong road and kept hitting deadends, which is why I posted from the phone as I was sat...waiting ;)

I just didn't expect my phone to finally submit the message several hours later :p
