Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

Hmm I see, never knew it worked like that. I think reading about it makes it seem more confusing though. :p

So basically as long as I move the stick down back, then up the flash kick will come out? Even if I'm holding down forward?

Edit: Also cheers, didn't know you could do the df kick twice for extra stun

yea i was gonna say how didnt you used to play balrog :o

i did some very quick testing, i just held df the entire time. also post FA you have to be careful, timing is weird on ryu (so im guessing its the same for many more chars). you kinda have to wait for them to drop a little of it will whiff.

As long as you held the stick down, down-back, or down-forward (can be any 1, or more than 1) then the FK will come out. You don't HAVE to do down-back at any point.

okkkk throw teching 101 - you're defending against a throw. what are your EXACT inputs?

mine is normally cr.lp+lk but i'm finding that i am often getting thrown out of it because cr.lk comes out sometimes. i read that this is common problem and that stand teching is more succesful. of course the problem with this is you guess wrong and eat low string.

another thing to note is that i don't mash out my tech's, i sorta press them in rhythm to the block string im defending against.

so basically what is the best way to tech, what do you guys use? do you stayed crouched to tech or do you get up and tech when you anticipate? is my timing wrong or is online screwing me over?

i'd say i see most of the throws coming so my execution is letting me down.

I always stand, it's more reliable because as you said sometimes a lk will come out if you're crouching. As you said though you see most throws coming so the likelihood of eating a low string is quite slim even for me.

Head-but Ultra says hi.

DF+HK, UF+HK are the motions for DFHK into flash kick.

What does headbutt ultra have to do with anything?

You are always holding back during that (well I do) so it makes sense the charge stays, just didn't know you could get a flash kick to come out despite having a forward motion.

Does teching throws just not work properly online or something, there are so many times where I physically press the buttons just when the throw comes, but I still eat it. I really don't get how the system works.

It must be online play because I am pretty good with throws offline. Except when they are done by Blanka players that hop back and forth. >.<

The theory is identical, you can charge for any charge move in any of the 3 required directions (except guiles/vegas/deejays Ultras), so charge back = b, db or ub.

By your description, you are always holding down for the flash kick so it should make logical sense. During rogs headbut, you cycle through db, b and ub before doing your ultra.

Teching throws has been made harder now.

Argh sorry ojste, someone started downloading a file on my network, totally screwed the netcode in that last game. Rather than laming my way to a win i thought i'd just quit out as that can't have been fun for you.

GGs before that though, i feel i'm beginning to get into using mk.dash sometimes, getting some cheeky hp.tornados in (man they do stupid damage now). Abel is so utterly awesome compared to vanilla IV. I'm still to perform a cr.hp -> lk.roll -> hp reset -> lk.roll -> T.throw online though, shame as it looks fantastic :D

[EDIT] Oh and, while i'm blowing my own trumpet, how cool was that roll into falling sky when you woke up using a DP? I've never managed to catch someone on the way UP before.

a few people on my list having been rocking abel, he is a BEAST. you're certainly improving!

can abel been thrown during his roll? he seems that when he recovers, he can throw immediately (or worse tornado) so pretty much cuts any offense option i have. i seem to remember jabbing him out of it a lot back in vanilla?

They seem to have made him immune to normal attacks while rolling now, a blessing as roll was near useless against anyone as an offensive tool unless they were a moron. Now it can only be thrown, and yes, it can be thrown at any time during the roll animation.

Slightly bitter that now Abel is good everyone is jumping on the wagon, i stuck by him when he sucked!

I wish you'd go back to Ken ojste, i knew all your tricks with him, now i keep losing the mindgames vs your new characters. It took me months to learn your behaviour as ken now i have to start all over again! :p

haha ken will make the odd appearance, i can play him about the same still but with more failed kara throws :D

need to work on my akuma vortex, i think im becoming a bit too telegraphed with it. was trying to add more cross ups and air tatsu in my game... i also noticed your blocking was pretty good! probs cos you been stuck with a char with dodgy AA all this time :p

His standard roll can be punished afterwards with most attacks and always throws. His EX roll has no recovery frames though so don't make the mistake of trying to flash kick afterwards it like I did!

in what way? and how do you tech your throws?

I don't, I get thrown.

Streeteh is always walking backwards when you jump in, which means you have to be more obvious with your crossups and he can spot it easier. It also means he can adjust ambiguous crossups to land any side he chooses.

Quite clever really.

For me it has been an army of Ryu players, a lot of Kens and a lot of Ibukis.

Loads and loads and loads of Ryu. I was expecting Dudley to be a lot more common.

Edit: I can't believe how stupidly good Guiles recovery is on sonic booms, I was able to anti air somebody after they jumped over a boom and they weren't even that far away. Gonna use him in the RB tomorrow.

How can cr.lp > cr.mp be a one frame link? I hit it all the time (offline) it just seems so easy, I guess it's just muscle memory.
