Project: Virgin Enthusiast Build

WC setup changing a little bit. not sure about the quad rad. seems to have a very high FPI where I really want a low FPI (fins per inch) as not too into too much airflow noise going through the high FPI model.

couple of other minor tweaks etc im gonna make.

stuff sitting in cart, but not hitting the buy button just yet as feeling tired and had way too much beer!!! dont want to rush the WC stuff ;)

anyone got any thoughts on the quad rad? im looking at this part: "XSPC RX480 Quad Radiator " has a MUCH lower FPI. will this affect the cooling performance drastically? some reviews i have seen seem to think it will be just about ok for the two GTX480s (600w+)

WC parts now all confirmed. should have arrived Saturday but didn't. Guess the delivery man was enjoying the awesome uk weather!

All running on air at the moment. With CPU at stock speeds, this thing flies!!! I ran a series of benchmarks last night and played a few games and it chewed through the lot even with settings maxed out.

It is a bit noisy, so good stuff that the WC is on it's way.

Temps are nowhere near as reported mind, so can probably ay with the fan profiles.

Bottom card rarely went above 80 degrees and top card rarely went above 90 degrees. This was all during heavy benchmarking. In games it never pushed these temps. I did manage to hit 95 degrees on the top card very briefly during a brief scene in heaven at extreme mode.

Been taking lots of pictures so will upload them in due course.

Word of warning for anyone looking at the lian li case; it's definately not worth the money! The build quality and attention to detail is very very poor. Anti-vibration feet use rubber that is too hard that it's more like plastic, so no resilience. Door closing is very flimsy and Wobbles about a lot. The foam strips to make a good seal you can see light through the gaps as they make no contact. Swapping hard drives is a pain in the arse. Audio sockets on front panel are very poor and lead to audio drop outs at one point last night. The surface finish is very poor. Modding it is a pain in the arse with screws all over the place. And the size is just silly. I mean really silly. This thing is so big it barely fits under my table! And no need for that naff box on the top.

Anyway, stock fans all swapped out now and the fractal design run really nice, so glad I have done it.

Will post up pictures and benchmarks soon.

Dude, you have waaaay too much spare cash :p
Or rather, had :D

Looking forward to seeing what this looks like in the end.
Personally, I hate the cosmos S - hideous to me :p

Got the sharkoons going on the rads (when they turn up!!)

been enjoying the sun, drinking beer and loving company of heroes maxed out!!

As the OS ssd drive is still pending, don't see the point in doing much else :)

hopefully Monday will bring some deliveries for me

Oh, need to edit the spec sheet. Gone for 1/2" ID tubing in the end :D also saved some money by swapping out the bitspower for some other fittings

ah, so thats the reason the sales team are asking me loads of questions about watercooling!!! :D

you product manager by any chance? ......if so i know that feeling lol

DeeJayCee - cant wait to see the finished machine mate, fair play for taking the plung and going the whole hog on a system like that :D
