Dell U2311h

All this 23" business is pointless. They are now doing 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24... Should really start doing half inches - that way we can have twice as many screens to choose from.

is it worth spending £292.00 on the U2211H when it is seen here for £210? But I can only find the U2211H on the dell site :((((

From my experience Dell always have their monitors costing more on their own website than on resellers. I reckon this is because they want to make money on volume wholsale purchases to suppliers, not individual sales to customers - for their monitors at least. This means they can inflate the price on their website and the resellers can sell them at "30% off RRP" and everyone thinks they are getting a great deal.

My suggestion would be to wait if you possibly can. If the monitor is on the dell website and in stock - it will be with resellers really soon.

Anyway- don't spend £200+ on a monitor until you see some proper in-depth reviews confirming it is good and has no terrible flaws.

According to tftcentral.co.uk:
Some early UK pricing lists the U2211H at around £255 GBP (inc delivery) while the U2311H is about £273.

This sounds like the kind of pricing we will see the monitors at on resellers. The new 22in (21.5in) is about the same cost as the 2209WA, and the 23in is a bit more.

If you are looking at the same site as me, click the "show inc. VAT price" in the top right corner (unless you are in a position where you can buy VAT-free). Also - you have to pay ~£8 for delivery within the UK.

Has anyone seen any reviews of the U2311H yet?, I need to buy a new monitor for some gaming and web browsing and can probably strech my budget to this, But i dont really know if its worth me spending the extra money on a IPS panel?

Thanks

from what I've read it uses the same panel as the NEC 23" a few months back so it should be pretty good although this uses WLED while the NEC uses

plus the NEC is about £280 so £316 is kinda reasonable

I ended up buying the 2209WA. It's a better monitor. There are hundreds of people saying their new Dell U2311H and U2211H have colour/tinting issues and I've been told the 2209WA is MUCH better side by side with the new monitors.

Plus, 2209WA is a 16:10 which is better, and only fools buy a monitor with a TV's resolution such as 1920x1080; it's so uncomfortable to work on.

I also ended up with the 2209WA.
Very happy with it and got it at a great price to boot..!

As said, Dell charge more on their site, Probably as a lot of sales go through finance, so people just tend to add it all together and slap it on the never never.

I'd be surprised if you could even name 10 people who have properly compared the 2209WA with Dell's new U2x screens. The best man for that, Baddass, has kindly reviewed the U2311H and it is clear that it's a good bet. The dE scores seem very impressive even without calibration. Of course individual screens of a given panel type may offer slightly different performance; tinting is a known issue with various Ultra Sharp monitors and it can be considered a fault covered by warranty.

I've got the U2211H with me as well at the moment and am working on a full review. I'll get hold of the 2209WA as well at some point soon but ive got a load of monitors with me at the moment and so little time to actually work through them :)
