*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Apparently ever since Facebook updated their privacy.....
Android app is definitely down.
Don't know about the iPhone app.

Facebook isnt working for me either both on wifi or the vodafone data network. Mines a stock desire thats not rooted so probably a facebook issue.

Ahh thats good then :)

Now to work out why the market is playing silly buggers. Can someone try and download something and let me know if all is ok?

There is a new firmare update for the Desire.
1.19.161.5
For Vodafone users there is a thread on the forums here:

http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/topic/61520-htc-desire-firmware-update-available/

Just gone through the manual update procedure and it works fine.
Going through the issues I've had with the phone now and seeing what has been fixed.

Is this just for Vodafone then? I assume by manual update you mean telling the phone to look for updates instead of leaving it on Automatic.

If you mean downloading the zip and installing it from that thread, I wouldn't want to do that as its Vodafone (mine is stock HTC) :p

Just checked (o2) and nothing there to download, I'll wait

Still say "Starting to download......" :(

Realy realyyy don't want to have to restore after ive spent all morning setting everything up how i like it :(

101mb :p

Ive found out what it is tho :(

I had an @googlemail.com account and i was on my email on my works PC and at the top it said i can change it to an @gmail.com account so i did....

But my phone/market/sync is set to a googlemail.com login so it's not logging in now :( Ive tried to remove/edit my current account on the phone but it's telling me im going to have to do a factory reset.

DONT DO ITTT lol

I done this the other day and had to factory reset. I think it's being done automatically to everyone with a @googlemail.com account anway in june.

Should be fun watching the posts come flying in about not wating to reset their phone :)

Just tried, it's showing up as @googlemail.com and gives me the option again to change to @gmail.

But phone still thinks im gmail :( damn you google for making me click stuff. DAMN YOUUUUUUUU

*edit* nvm it's working now :)

I have both gmail.com and googlemail.com but that was because I was a used before the UK gmail.com dispute. This has now been resolved I believe (or the claim ran out) so you should have a gmail.com too.

Before I clicked the link I still used @gmail.com for everything, but officially it was still @googlemail.com. However now it's @gmail.com (officially) which causes the phone to throw a wobly.

Yeah ive always used @gmail too. but my defualt the phone logged me in as @googlemail.com

Not a big deal now tho all is sorted :)

I thought i messed something up by rooting

So what's different when rooted from say my handset that came out of the box unlocked and unbraded, well other than the Virgin Media logo when it boots?

You can use apps that require root access (like taking screenshots for a quick example)

And you can also mod your phone in more ways, the biggest is custom ROMS, which you want because HTC dont have a good record when it comes to updating the OS, so it may end up that you HAVE to root if you want 2.2

And then you also have stuff like overclocking and underclocking when the phone is in sleep

There are several advantages, that have been outlined quite a lot in this thread :p

In a nutshell, it means you can use various modifications on your phone, that will give you extra features (such as Apps2SD that you cant get until HTC port it over), performance boosts, remove rubbish put on by the networks, etc. Flashing Roms and so on.

Can anyone find me a genuine HTC Desire BLACK battery cover?

Even on their own website I only seem to be able to see silver and brown. :(

That's only for vodafone Desires. If you manually download the file its riddled with vodafone software and wouldn't work when I tried to install it

This happened to me, i randomly decided to uninstall the market, i didn't think it would work!

Was rather worried when it did uninstall xD

Then i ran it again it setup and worked fine, hope this works for you!

Getting happier and happier with the battery life too, got my first 40 hours the other day and last night i took 200 photos with the flash (used about 42% battery

Just shame they were all terrible :(

Reason i took so many was cus last time i was drunk they came out bad so this time i kept making people pose and do 3 of each shot, friends took phone off me in the end -.-

Can anyone else post some night out photos for me to compare it too? I might be asking too much coming from a xenon flash phone.

Sorry wasn't going to read 160+ pages to find the nutshell :)

Thanks for that though ;)
