Giving Battlefield 2 another go

lol, i'll take your word for it. I'm not about to reinstall it all just to find that i'm not impressed by the out-dated graphics compared to BC2

Also the graphics aint bad for a 5 year old game, and also not really noticeable once your popping heads :D:cool:

But the gameplay in bf2 is a lot better than what i found from the bc2 beta (havnt played retail much).

Roll on Bf3.
 
Gameplay > Graphics any day.

BF2 was far superior to BCBF2 bugs, warts and all.

I just hope DICE don't buckle BF3. I really will be disappointed then!

Honestly mate, the facts speak for them self, i spent nearly 700 hours on one map in BF2 and i came to the game later than others! it does take a while to get into it.... but once your enjoying it.... like wow it will take over your life!
 
Don't think I'd could go back to BF2/2142 now, not having prone is one of the best choices the series has made. That and the hit-reg of good 24 man servers has been spot on for me & my mates. Played on a server called 'CANDYS' the other day, he/she/they had a BF2/SF server as well IIRC, it was always my preference. Where ever and on whatever hardware their hosting their server is awesome, don't think I missed a bullet.

Agree that it has become a lot more of a console game, but lets not forget;

- Compared to certain other FPS games on the market, it's near-realistic. (Dedicated servers, punk-buster & no pea-shooters with zero recoil)
- The original Bad Company was actually a console game.
- Consoles are were the money is, and to say DICE have EA as a publisher it's nothing short of amazing what it's turned out like on the PC.

BF2 was my FPS of choice after years of competitive play of 1.6, hit-reg was always my biggest grip with the game, had some epic moments & have put in god knows how many hours but don't think I could go back.
 
Gotta say that I agree that beyond a certain point, BFBC2 is pretty samey. It has still been great VFM and I am holding out for them to release new maps. If we get 5 - 6 new Conquest/Rush maps, I would be happy.

I did consider trying BF2, but I think I will be better off waiting for BF3 :D

The writting is on the wall mate, Bf3 will fail that i am sure... DICE seem under a lot more pressure to bang out games tailored to the console.... We are just an after thought!

Unless we start to pay monthly for FPS games we'll only ever get a console port ....... the days of the great BF2 are long gone!

Really I think Battlefield 3 could be something epic.

Learning from their previous mistakes of Bf1942 and Bf2, it would give PC gamers something really excellent.

I cant see them making Bf3 for consoles as consoles have already a dedicated game (bc2, bf1943).

I hope with this bf2 they go to the game mechanics/type of bf1942 and bf2, as bf1942 still has a place in my heart.

Also DICE has a reputation of game breaking patches à la bf2 1.3 *shudders*.

BF3 will be a console game, they'll never make it exclusivly PC (unless its pay per month). I'm not holding my breath, they admitted with the current frostbyte engine they cant create maps like karkand and the old BF2 maps due to mass's of info needed... apparently PC's cant handle it.
 
I only started playing BF2 last year, and only wnet online with it in January this year and I have to say I am rather gutted that I didn't find it sooner because it is the most fun I have had in a game for ages.

Learning curve isn't too bad really once you've realised that a lot of the guns are totally inaccurate unless you are crouched or prone you just need to be aware of your surroundings and keep your eyes and ears open

same here, i wish i could go back to 2005 and start playing it the day it came out :(
 
Hmmm, I may have to get this. Loved 2142 back in the day, and have played BC2 to death (well, nearly). Wouldn't mind a new environement/challenge. Worth getting the complete collection for £15 on steam?
 
For me I couldn't care less about BF3. Armed Assault 2 is where it's at!

With Armed Assault: Operation Arrowhead out next month and Arma: Project Reality mod in private beta it's exciting times ahead.

I guess it's the writing on the wall for the BF series. I guess the PR guys realise that the arma engine is better for their needs but also that BF3 will be console focused, without console or developer's kit.

BF is ok for some quick laugh's, using the gustav to annoy is a great way to have fun! Alas I just get our clan server filled the quit to go play Arma2.
 
The whole reality thing doesn't do it for me.

I like playing games (preferably not sat at my PC in full camo, helmet and boots).
 
I loved playing bf2 online with 64 players, but I've got used to 32 players max in bc2 and its not bad at all. Can't understand why u can't go prone though, that's just silly.

Oxy you playing Arma in a clan?

I really fancy that but couldn't get into it... i like the thought of true warfare! will the PR be better version of arma 2?
