There's a mod called A.C.E2 which everyone was waiting for which made things even more "real".

Arma2 is more co-op and people make there own missions, like my clan leader who makes wicked missions that are very hard. He uses a lot of British models so every Sunday night we play one of his as British Army with Land Rovers and Merlins etc :p

Arma2: PR is being made to address the pretty much non-existant (not strictly true) player vs player of arma2, which is when I suspect a lot of our PR platoon will play "Arma:PR" and we will have a huge team.

Arma is really hard to play in public games/own your own. It's an awesome game, but has a high learning curve. I had to join RIP to understand it and am still learning now.

Apparently Bohemia Interactive, who make Arma really listen to the community and add parts of this ACE2 mod that the community makes into each release. I am told a lot of ACE1 on ARMA1 was made into the official Arma2 game, some of ACE2 mod is being added to the standalone "operation Arrowhead" game next month, like thermal imaging, proper targeting system for choppers/planes.

Our clan missions are designed to be done with a team of 10-15 so we usually use snatch land rovers or enter via parachute or Merlin drop-off.

We ain't large enough as an Arma2 platoon for full scale tank/APC/Apache/Harrier attacks.

The co-ordination on vent would be insane for us, we struggle keeping organised in 3 Land Rovers lol.

It is insane fun, but needs teamwork and planning.

Arma2 can be what ever you want it to be, full scale Airpower, sea or land, or SAS ninja style.

We seem to play missions SAS ninja style as a clan/platoon.

If you want to signup post on rustyinplaces.org its free for 30 days then £5 a month for server costs, as I say we play properly on Sunday nights but I train a lot in vechiles and learn a lot about ACE2 during the week.
 
Was there a definative fix for that bug in bf2 when it says invalid CD key? As far as I remember you got that error if you tried to play it under a different profile from what it was installed under?

I think the last time i tried it, was for one of my lads, reinstalled it under his profile, and still got the error. tried a few things, but nowt seemed to work.

Why would you do that lol, I often play in just my pants!

If you don't have the mental capacity for better games I can understand.

BF is great for grenade spam, dolphin diving and Gustav noob tubing, which is great fun when drunk :p I just find Arma for envolving and rewarding.

It's not exactly hard anyway.

My clan has a good server sitting there doing nowt. We are closing it down on June 7th. It will have been up for a few weeks short of 5 years when it goes. :(

We have all moved onto BC2 but I can raise a fair few old schoolers from my lot to make up some numbers.

We are also going to (hopefully) have a closing down BF2 weekend. I have some of my buddies from other clans we have played against over the years going to join us for a party on the beaches of Wake.

Nah windows accounts, if you install it under a windows profile it doesnt work under another.

(well it did last time i tried it but have tried that gigbyte patch since)
 
Was thinking about playing this cos BC2 lacks depth and the choppers are **** to fly. Wouldnt play PR mod tho, that totally sucks.

BF2 is awesome, i often forget how good it is and have to remind myself. It's pretty much the only game that i've had continually installed since it came out. The hit detection is a bit rubbish and there's always the age old problem of the uber jets/choppers, but overall bloody good fun.
 
Yeah I had that as I re-installed and patched up today as well.

I put the 1.40 patch in first and then ran the 1.50 patch and it didn't happen.
 
Yeah I had to do that too, but get the 1.41 patch instead.

I haven't really had a chance to play yet, joined a game or 2 but seemed very laggy :/ not sure if it was my net though.

Bf2 was great, just a shame they never tweaked the choppers. They should never have been able to take direct hits from the tanks. Shame as a decent pilot could load the sides....so much for team play. Karky is still the best map i've played for infantry, just love it.

Mind, sorry but im not quite sure who you are from the TFU vent server, i assume it is the TFU vent even/

Im going to take a guess at Duncan. :D

Also tanks can kill choppers in one hit to the glass cockpit, but yeah i know what you mean.
