Job app : job interview : job offer ratio

Probably about

100:3:3

The 100 figure is a bit random as I was literally just sending out my CV to any half decent job on Gumtree, without even writing a covering note etc, and properly researching the role.

I do like the fact though that from every interview I've had, I've been offered the job. :D Makes it easier when I think for the future - looks like my interview skills are good, just need the CV to get the interview!

well seems i have joined the group now.

All the team got taken in office tonight and told they are sacking 12 of us and we have 2 weeks left :(

Didnt bother answering any calls on the phone when i went back to my desk and just started sending cvs off, sent 6 off, but i live in stoke so ill probably have to send off around 300 before i get to an interview stage.

p.s anybody want any big discounts on there BT bill in the next 2 weeks let me know haha

Before applying for graduate jobs I think I was 11:10:9 although for a few of those jobs I didn't even stay beyond a week or so as in one case I got a better offer with an old employer or in a couple it was door to door selling - I left in those cases.

For graduate jobs I think my ratio was roughly 22:1:1. Technically I had telephone interviews for 2 further jobs but got offered my current job before the face to face interview/assessment centre so I'm not counting them although in both cases they did request I go along to the next available assessment centre.

We've got some high calibre people on this thread then, if they're applying for less than 10 jobs!

Not necessarily

You could apply for tescos, McDonalds and the local mini cab firm and I reckon you'd probably have a good ratio.

Then again applying for 100 'jobs' seems a bit extreme. I'd struggle to even find 100 employers advertising for my line of work tbh...

My current job was through a recruitment agency so I didn't really apply as such - it was the first interview they fixed up for me and I got the job.

Prior to that when I was applying directly to certain companies on the off chance they had a job going I probably sent off my CV 8 times, got one rejection, two interviews and subsequently 2 offers. One other interview which I turned down as I'd accepted an offer and I didn't hear back from the other 4.

It use to be

100::5:1

last few years after had cv done it's more like
10:9:2
I am just so rubbish at interviews, winds me up, as I know I would be great at the job.

I've applied for about 60 jobs within the last 3 months and didn't hear a single thing back off them. Mainly because I'm applying for jobs that hundreds of other people will be applying for, like admin work and retail etc.

However, I have a job interview tomorrow so hopefully I could be back in work soon, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up - A job interview obviously doesn't mean you've got the job!

I'm graduating in just over a month.

I took a placement year which was 4:3:1.

I applied to two companies for when I finish and got a job with one of them so 2:2:1 :D.

About 12:1:0

That 1 was for Sainsbury's. Yeahhh. :(

Edit: although those were part time applications, maybe not comparable with graduate jobhunting efforts.

9:2:0

I'm also rubbish at interviews, I have it all sorted in my mind then clam up and make schoolboy errors.

Mass unemployment + high population density + austerity + little savings = the above.

Every year there are 3-5 places as its quite niche, but this year due to banking fall out more people are applying to it.

I applied to about 25 grad schemes. Been to 3 assessment centres and had numerous phone interviews. Keep coming second when there's one job on offer. Beginning to get upsetting as I really wanted to move out this year, I'm just in the process of applying to internships now. I hope to have more luck next year in the grad scheme process.

Only thing I can say is to keep trying, the benefits of a good grad scheme are massive, do you use wikijob?

1:1:1

But that was 2 years ago and could be time for a change so that ratio might go a bit haywire :D

Iv been very very lucky. Straight out of uni finishing, 10 cvs sent, 1 reply, 1 interview and got the job. Stayed for 3 years, applied for another job and got that, one interview and boom, I'm in. Been At this company for a year and 3 months now and loving it

Before graduating:

Around 5:5:5, including an internship with a major company but not including one job I was offered through family connections.

After graduating:

~20:3:0, one of the interviews I was unavailable for so didn't get to go to it. However as well as specific jobs I've also sent out about 50+ speculative CV's.

I am on 1:1:1 after uni with bog standard retail.... and also 1:1:1 with masters courses...
