Rugby League Season Starts Soon

Winning in the last minute is the best feeling in the world. Losing in the last minute (especially in a game that you should have won) is the worst. Sam Tomkins isn't the finished article until he can guide a team through the last few minutes of games like these. Leeds have been champions for the last 3 years and their experience of playing in the really big games got them through

On a statistical note, each of the games Wigan have lost this season have had the same referee.

Just statistical? heh! Who was it? (out of interest).

Heh! Well we have learnt not to criticise referrees after Morgan got fined for it! Even watching Silverwood at Bradford today, he made some awful decisions, like a knock on that he gave against Bradford late in the second half when it clearly came off a Wolves player and the other time when he did Wolves for a play the ball that was 0.5-1m away from where the tackle occured, despite being pushed there by the Bradford players. Ludicrous decisions. Anybody see this? I thought Bradford should have really won it and they probably would have done had Silverwood not given that decision against them when they were in full flow.

Didn't see the game today. He's usually okay. He was a bit of a 'homer' early in his career but has got stronger with experience.

Just a general moan about refs. Penalty counts are usually very close at the end of the game but they don't tell the full picture. A penalty on tackle 1/2 coming off your own line from a downtown kick isn't the same as one on tackle 4/5 when you're defending a repeat set on your own line. If You get 4 or 5 penalties against you on the bounce and cracks will appear somewhere. A suspicious person might say that the refs get updates on the count during the game to make sure they aren't too uneven.

tbh Wigan should have won with the possession and chances, a few dodgy decisions but this is Rugby and its a mans game and you have to get on with it, its not football as I am sick and tired of hearing, for Wigan not to score sums up why they lost, Leeds did.

But the ref did not score the try for Leeds and it came from a legit mistake from a Wigan player.

It was a good game, marred by Silverwoods errors. We did make some mistakes, Worrincy was really bad and giving a silly penality away from a gldo was unacceptable. Bradford should have won it, but sadly the decisions didn't go our way.

I also suspect that Matt Orfords future is causing a distraction for the team.

You wonder if that's Orford's last game for the Bulls. There are reports all over the Sydney press about him wanting to go home and Wembley has gone for this season. He's a real quality player who will walk straight back into an NRL team, but it must be so frustrating for Bulls fans. Did he do no research about what to expect over here?

Was a great game to watch, many mistakes from both sides. As a Leeds fan I can admit we were lucky to win. Great tackle from Peacock on your kicker to get Leeds in that position but it was a missed tackle that let Smith in.

Sinfield really should have done much better with the boot, 3 relatively simple kicks hit the post and one put wide and had it not been for the try would have cost us the game.

Gutted last night after watching Wolves v Rovers. Referreeing decisions went badly against us and really disapointed. Thought Rovers were incredibly good defensively, but a little lacking going forward. Thought we really had a chance last night but it wasn't to be. Here's hoping for a good showing in the playoffs, assuming we get there.

Must asmit i fancied us being turned over last night by HKR. Missing a few first choice players i thought you guys might capitalise. I really cant stand the guy, but Lee Briers is playing well at the moment, just wish he had been like this all through his career at warrington.

it might sound a bit arrogant but i had no worries in us beating KR last night.

justin morgan is just a prat though which makes it all that more sweet :D

I thought KR played with a lot of spirit, energy levels is what gave Wire the win. imho

Wigan looked comfortable against a clearly understrength Wakefield. I was expecting a much tougher game. Once again, I got soaked at a Yorkshire ground. Has the concept of putting a roof over the terracing not caught on over there yet :)

It's all about the experience I say! Craven Park is still very much lacking in any good facilities for away fans, the away stand is all seater, but exposed to the elements, as for parking up and getting to the ground, its a nightmare if you have never been before. Wigan play Rovers on 22nd August so hopefully it will be a nice summer day for it.

I'd imagine Hoppy is a bit disappointed this weekend.

Disappointed is not the word.

8 wins from 9 for us :)

We are doing well - for us ;)

Andy

To be honest, Warry have underachieved for the last few seasons, sure they won the Challenge Cup, but they should have done better in the league, with the team they had. They are finally fulfilling their potential. A fearsome team this season. I think SuperLeague fans are expecting a Wigan - Wolves Grand Final this year and I wouldn't be surprised. Still, ANYTHING can happen and anyone can beat anyone else on their day.

What has gone wrong? Is it just injuries or something else? Always a very physical, big strong team Bradford. We couldn't cope with the shear size of your team at Odsal. Lacking that bit of creativity? That sure is Rovers problem at the moment without a decent number 6. Plenty of transfer talk going around already at Craven Park.

Everybody satisfied with their teams efforts at the weekend?

I haven't been in a while but am hoping to go to the HKR v Huddersfield game on Sunday. We owe them a defeat BIG TIME! I can't remember the last time we have beaten the Giants.

A good solid performance from Rovers against Quins which keeps us well in the running for the playoffs and maybe a bit higher.

Tight game between Saints and Wigan.....

It's so frustrating, but Sts are a good team especially when the chips are down. Interesting that Wigan have had tight games against the top 2 teams (Leeds/Sts) for the last few years and their experience of how to win the big games has got them both through.

On a statistical note, all the games that Wigan have lost this year have had the same referee (although I'm not blaming him - this time :))
