*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Well I can safely say that it's best to wait for FroYo to be released via HTC OTA.

The UI is pretty awful in comparison to sense, the mail application doesn't support things like out of office that the HTC mail application does.

The keyboard is awful - only thing I like about it is the voice dialler and the lock screen really.

Back to Sense 2.1 for me, but customised via the Modaco Kitchen :)

Hats off to the developers though that got it working, for a hack job it really was smooth.

I'm desperate to flash as I have a terrible echo issue with me incar bt kit Nokia CK-7W, all other phones have been fine, Nokia, iPhone, wife blackberry but with the desire the called can hear themselves and its got to the point where I have to use the phone loud speaker which is at the rear and not great when the handset is in a holder :(

Used my Desire for music for the first time last week, seems it has shocking handling of various tags in mp3s - all the tracks look fine in Winamp, guessing it's a mix of V1 and V2 tags though which the phone doesn't see one of them.

The Desire media player is pants.... In fact, Andorid media players are all pants when you compare them to the Apple equivalent.

Say what you want (I dont like Apple personally) but the media apps are good.

There is definitely an opening within the Marketplace for a good media app....

Having trouble sending music over Bluetooth! Trying to do it from astro but keeps failing. Pictures work fine however, anyone got any ideas?

I have a similar issue. My car has MDI input and it can read all song tags fine apart from one song. Going to have a look at the file but it's weird as I rip all my music via EAC and tag via MuzicBrain. So should all be the same.

When I can be bothered, I'm going to cross-check the ones I've got on there, which work and which don't and have a look at their tags. Hopefully I'll be able to work out which it likes. Copying V1 to V2 tags or vice versa is easy enough but annoying to have to do if so.

That is a matter of opinion though, I quite like the stock Android launcher, although I've used Sense for so long I'm quite bored with it (had it on my old Hero).

I agree for the vast majority of people it is probably better. I don't think it's fair to say more enthusiast people would prefer Sense, as loads of people are using custom launchers.

Unless HTC get Froyo ported quite fast, more and more people are going to start flashing stock 2.2 on and HTC wont want that, especially now their "USB Brick" copy protection has a workaround. :p

Only thing the Sense UI really has that is great is it's mail application, though the push Gmail client is far better (if you use that!)

I quite agree, bTunes is about as good as it gets and even that is trying to be the player from the iPhone.

Best thing about the iPhone, is it's iPod integration.

HTC need to get some company working on something like it (not a copy, obviously).

I just tried btunes on my desire but it force closes when I hold down the search button to try and use the voice commands. Is this a common problem? are there any other music apps that work with voice commands? having to mess around with skipping tracks when driving isn't really something I want to be doing

i tried that, which option should i use as the aspect can seem abit wrong with the android option and the sound tends to be ahead of the video.

It's a shame i've put some really high quality mp4's which look HD good but the sound is always ahead of the action =/

Did you sort this out? mines got the same problem playing videos converted with WinFF, it's ok when i start watching but the sound gradually starts to lose sync with the picture, if i zoom to another section of the video it goes back to normal but then gets worse again. At the start of a movie it sycs fine, but at after an hour the audio was about 5 seconds out.

I'm thinking of getting one of these, however there's a lot of information to trawl through and it gets quite complicated. What with goldcard, rooting, ROM and all that stuff, i'll have to read more in to that once i'm certain I want the phone.

I'm currently with Orange on a pay as you go package but am thinking of changing to pay monthly but with a different company as I don't want branding plus i'm sure I can find better deals. I don't particularly text or talk a lot on my current phone but this is mainly as I am on pay as you go and want to limit my usage. I will still however probably use the internet on it more than anything else.

Would I be right in thinking that o2 would be the best option? I'm interested to hear what peoples' opinions are of the best provider.

T-Mobile via MPD/Mobiles.co.uk is the best Pay Monthly option (imo).

O2 is very good and has a high data allowance but chances are you won't need it that high and they deals aren't as competitive.

Yes, those deals are very good from MPD.

None of the handsets they send out are branded, they are all stock and just come with a simcard for your contract. (Unless something has changed)

Nice to see they've got them back in stock, and people aren't having to wait until the 2nd week of June!
