F1 Jake plugging the ipad?!

Probably but then i dont say or think that BB's are the best out bar none;)

Stop trolling FFS...

Yes you do, have a look in the mobile forum, it's only stopped because you have realised that Android **** over both.

Pot, kettle, black my dear Spawny.

RTM any post where you think I'm trolling, I'm due a holiday.

Is there some sort of stand you can use with the iPad? I can't imagine it being very comfortable to constantly hold it up with one hand and use the touch screen with the other. Or if you want to use for an extended period of time without your arm dying, how can you have it on your lap and have it tilted up to you? I'm finding it hard to see how this form factor is actually useful at the minute.

I'm not blindingly hating it, I'm just trying to see the fascination here.

A stand comes with it IIRC and you can connect up bluetooth keyboards and if you jailbreak, mice too.

Not so keen on that aspect personally but I wouldn't use it for extended typing anyway!

As for the fascination, I would like one for just casual browsing, etc. Even tho I am a advanced computer user when I'm relaxing the last thing I want is browser updates or what not.

Turn iPad on instantly, browse effortlessly, job done. Sounds like a easy life to me personally. People who want to play flash games and require flash, the iPad is not for them.

Oh god here we go with the standard apple faboy rhetoric. When apple laptops were made out of plastic it was all fine and good, as soon as apple made the change to aluminium the fanboys were out from under their rocks in droves slating pc laptops still made of plastic. It'll be interesting to see what happens if apple make the move to another type of material, all of a sudden im sure aluminium will be referred to in the book of Jobs as material made for heathens.

Let's just ignore that a laptop is a diffrent product shall we,
upas needs a glass screen, it does not close in half and protects itself. Plastic is fragile and although aluminium is not needed it's a nice touch, again due to it's form factor. It will take much more abyss than a laptop.
In essence they are not the same thing, they have very diffrent rolls and way of use.

you've read plenty of scenarios where it is useful and many many people will have decent usage from it, yet in your eyes it's rubbish.
Unable to accept that it is a good product, just like all the other apple products.

There was something on Lifehacker I think about making a stand MacGyver style, if you need one. I think it'll work for similar things like phones too. Wasn't that long ago IIRC.

Not at all I am not an apple fan for a start.
I have no problem with people who have no use for it, or have real critisim about it. But that generally doesn't happen. Most people slaggung it of because it's apple or they are to short sighted to see how it can be used, even if they have no need fir it.

I agree and it's somewhat frustrating, because I see it wherever I go. Fair enough, there are plenty of genuine reasons to dislike Apple and their products, but there are also plenty more to like them. In the end, the people that show their hatred just because it's Apple or it's not Microsoft end up making themselves look silly.

The thing that holds me back is that it runs, and can only run (as far as I am aware) that specific OS. I would want it to run something specifically assembled for the things I would use it for. What really draws me to it is the hardware and build-quality that I've seen, which is nothing short of fantastic.

May I correct you by saying that I hate the plastic back on the new iPhone 3G and 3GS, i am still on the original iPhone and it is made of aluminium.

Aluminium is a better material with superior qualities, its not about fan boy, its just a better material. Period. Same reason I like a watch to be made out of metal, not plastic.

Jeez, I was talking about better materials for a product, you are the one jumped into the fanboy theatrics.

Plastics can also be durable, theres hardened plastics out there on specific laptops that can take quite a bit of abuse. Just because its aluminium doesn't automaticaly make it tougher.

Sadly for a phone and it's reception it isn't ;) 3GS WiFi and signal is much better than the (new) 2G I had at the time tbh.

Aluminium overall is a better material. Hence why it is used in cars, aeroplanes, etc...

Plastic, is not used in aircraft in anywhere apart from fixtures and fittings, which is hardly critical.

The original iphone was a scratch magnet with its aluminium backing. Seen plenty of iphones and ipod touch's that were scratched badly just with everyday use. On the 3gs it was harder to see the scratches due to the backing it had.

good god, there are many plastics. But guess what aluminium still has supior qaulified for this.

Plastic, is not.

What has that got to do with anything? Aluminium is mainly used in planes because of the weight involved and the fact its easier to mould. Last i checked plastic is also used in cars and planes for that matter.

Most products have times when they're useful, but that doesn't mean they're a good buy. I'm allowed to think it's not a good product, just as you're allowed to think it's good. Different interpretation of the same evidence as we're not the same person, clearly. It's not a view based on any Apple hatred or principles, but just my own opinion on that specific product. I don't hate all Apple products, some have a lot of potential to be great, but I find they're overpriced and lack in certain areas that may be more important to me than someone else. Much of their kit is built and marketed in a similar fashion, so it's not a surprise that I'm not a massive fan of more than one thing they make. I don't know why you're trying to grasp so fervently onto reasons to dislike my opinions, and it's starting to wear thin. I've shown you no disrespect and I'd expect the same back, but clearly that's not possible for some reason.

You saying the plastic on the new iPhone Is more scratch resistant?

I should take a pic of mine and show you.

Well you had white and black as the choice, to me white didn't show the scratches as much. Aluminium on the other hand the scratches seemed more obvious.

PMSL you do make me laugh...unlike apple fanboi's i dont think BB's are the best devices EVAR...thats the difference dear gimpy;)...you do need to go and brush up on your comprehension and reading skills i think:p. But yes im a BB man through and through but even i admit it has its faults unlike a lot of apple fanboi's...so try harder next time eh??

And no Android is good and all that but still isnt the best;)...not by a long shot....still has a lot of work to be done on it.....needs more polishing up but its getting there and thats coming from a guy who has a Desire as well...so i gotz the best of botbh worlds in my pocketz.

Ah now we are getting somewhere, weight is a critical issue in a portable device, is it not?

If you saw my edit, yes it is, but it's used for nothing important.

Personally I'd rather have my portable devices made out of something slightly better than plastic, however 'advanced' the plastic is.

Edit: Personally I have a case round my iPhone, and would have round my iPad so scratching isn't really a problem. Besides anyone with a device costing that much should have a case, mentalism if you don't.
