*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

My boss was offered £22 for a 24 month contract today. Don't know the minutes/texts details though.

Just ordered mine on a £15pm contract.. 300m, 300 text, internet and unlimited land line calls as the booster. £93 for phone but with £40 quidco.

I've got an iPhone but this looks as good if not better and I can compare before deciding which to keep.

Now, where is the post telling me the best things to load onto that Desire?

plus I better go buy a decent sized microSD card. Phone comes with 4gb no?

Just installed a modded version of the stock android (not HTC) music player and it's much better IMO: http://goo.gl/CA0Y

You need root for this though.

I used the link that robboftw provided, very easy to do.

Decided I'm going to at least try froyo, I can always go back to rootedupdate if it's complete gash.

ehhh misquote of the week.

If you install DeFroST Froyo, you literally need to press 5 buttons to enable Apps2SD from the command prompt in windows. So it's worth bothering with if you use a lot of Apps ;)

Any links on how to do it (already have deFrost flashed)?

Cheers

Edit: is it adb shell pm setInstallLocation 2?

OK I'm rooted :D

Just doing Apps2sd when it refers to partitioning the card should I have my 16gb in there and not my 1gb Goldcard?

1. Turn on your phone while holding the volume down button.
2. You will see HBOOT on the screen.
3. Use the volume buttons to move up and down and power button to select the RECOVERY option.
4. You will now see a red triangle on the screen, at this point plug your phone into your PC via your microUSB cable.
5. Double click on recovery-windows.bat inside the pushfiles_windows.zip folder you unzipped as part of the root process.
6. Using the optical trackpad select Partition sdcard > Partition SD
7. Select SWAP=0, EXT2=512 and allow the rest to be FAT32.
8. Select the SD:ext2 to ext3 option in this menu.
9. Go back to the Recovery Console main menu and select Reboot system now. While rebooting, unplug the Desire from the USB port.
10. And thats it! You now have a rooted Desire with apps2sd. Get in!

If you are rooted, you won't need a goldcard, so just format the goldcard and use that, or use your 16GB one. Doesn't matter ;)

If you're going to be using Froyo, don't bother with that at all because 2.2 doesn't support EXT partitions.

See if you can move them manually.

It's very odd, if I download an app that's say 2mb, 2mb is obviously the packed size on the market, after downloading my phone memory goes down by 2mb but the app get's installed onto the SD card (around 20mb unpacked).

Is there any way of reclaiming that space back from the phone memory?

It could be the cache, you could try clearing it.

Not all Apps are compatible though, not sure if thats been fixed now but it can depend on how the App works too.
