Unfortunately Dokuro dubbed is still not in, which is holding up my copy of Wings of Honnemaese (blu) and that is one I really, really, really want to see (I'm getting tempted to ask them to split the order).

I really wished you hadn't mentioned Royal Space Force Wings of Honneamise, having never bought the DVD i had a quick look on TRSI and saw that it has Japanese DolbyHD audio. Apart from being an awesome film this was a no brainer. Sold. Also had to order the S&W novel just to see what everyone has been talking about.

So much for not wanting to buy any discs till July :D

Never bothered with MCM myself, i do hear its always packed.

Who's the character in your sig, it looks familiar and its bugging the hell out of me lol.

Looks like Haruhi to me.

This MCM was the first one I didn't go to in like two years... Used to go to sharpen up my photography skills, now there are too many idiots running about (and running things, actually) to make it any fun. It rained hard on Sat anyway, so I don't think I missed out on much.

Ah you spotted the Blu/DVD combo pack as well then :D
When I saw the price was just $40 (IIRC) for it, and apparently it's a region free blu I just had to buy it as it's one of the films I loved when it was on Sci-Fi, but they never released it over here and the previous R1 DVD was pretty much a disaster.

Yeah its Haruhi Suzumiya in my sig :)

Picked up some decent stuff at MCM, the Lain artbook in particular was a bargain and is really good as well. It has a short manga by ABe in it, which is the only Lain manga that exists.

Really like the Nanoha figure ... had a chance to pick it very cheaply from Mandrake Grand Chaos in Osaka but would have had no practical way of getting it home :(

I went to the MCM event in Telford earlier in the year which was ok; I'd like to get down to the London Expo one year but it's having the time to get around to it from Nottingham.

Nice loot :)

That Nanoha looks rather switch, and the Mikiru's(?) look sweet.

Is that the Lain book with the nightmare of creation in it?
I've seen a few pics of it in the past and I really like ABe's art style :)

Can anyone recommend me something to watch? My girlfriend is really into anime and I have therefore seen a few things but obviously it is all aimed towards what shes into. I have seen the following:
  • Cowboy Bebop (I saw this on my own)
  • Outlaw Star
  • Macross Frontier
  • Gurren Lagann
  • Tora Dora
  • All of the available Ghibli films
  • Ghost in the shell
  • Get Backers
  • Ranma 1/2 (about half of it)
  • Beck
  • Evangeleon
  • Full Metal Alchemist
  • Macross Plus
  • Full Metal Panic
  • Aquarion
  • Dragonball Z (180 episodes! I feel like my life was stolen away).
  • Beserk
  • Death Note

Out of that the only stuff I didn't like was Ghost in the Shell and Get Backers. My favourite would be either Cowboy Bebop or My Neighbour Totoro, and my suprise like was Tora Dora. What seminal items have I missed, and what should I watch now? Help me Anime Gurus!

Last Exile is rather good fun, Irresponsible Captain Tylor is a good comedy, **** for slice of live* and actually reminds me a little of the Ghibli films at times in feeling, Spice and wolf is pretty great and a little different :)
Oh, and Bubblegum Crisis (original) is classic, if you like Blade Runner you'll probably like it.
Gunbuster is one of my favourites of all time (Gainax in their very early days).
Wings of Honemaese is very good, basically the first attempts to reach space in an alternate world where the two main countries are on the verge of war.

Most of those are available here, or cheaply from the states with the exception of Gunbuster and Wings which are box fairly expensive and OOP (Wings is certainly still available, and Gunbuster may still be around).

*not lice as i typed at first :p

I'd suggest (in no particular order) ...

Burst Angel
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
Bamboo Blade
Vandread
Eureka Seven
Solty Rei
Samurai Champaloo

When you say Full Metal Panic, I'm assuming that you are including Fumoffu and The Second Raid as well? And the same with Ghost in the Shell; I'm assuming you are including all the series and films?

Other recommendations which are good but maybe outside what you want are Kanon, Clannad (including After Story) and Spice & Wolf.

edit I agree with Werewolf on Last Exile and would be tempted to add You're Under Arrest although the first series is out of print (IIRC).

Aye, I was tempted to add YUA but discounted it because it's been oop for a while, at least for the first series :(
Although I'd hope that given Section 23 have the second and third series, and their previous incarnation had the movie and later OVA's (from memory) they might possibly do a licence rescue at some point.

Patlabor TV is similar to YUA but with robots instead of patrol cars and bikes :)

Salty Rei is good, iirc it's just had a "Save" edition released in the states, and a complete collection over here.

I watched the first episode of A*** last night, and i'd totally forgotten how Ai was introduced, needless to say I had a silly grin within the first 5-10 minutes of starting the episode :)

hehehe ... since the weekend I've been marathoning A__a from the beginning (as well as reading the Aqua and A__a manga). I'm currently half way through the second series and people at work are wondering why I walk around with a big grin on my face :D

I liked Canaan and am liking Working!. I'm very behind on the first two you list.

A__a and the rest are references to a anime and manga series about Undines on a teraformed Mars. The actual name of the series is the same as one of OcUK's competitors and hence is blocked by the forum software.
