20th Century fox vs Newzbin

Got to agree with Astraweb here, I've never had any problems with them, and their speeds are good to match! They easily max out 100Mb+ here.

I'm going from Giganews to Astraweb at the end of the month. Paying a fortune atm with Giganews.

I use Astraweb purely for the price and the ease of use of their website. I buy blocks of data and just roll with that. My 150GB block has lasted me 6 months almost and I have 70GB left right now. I use Virgin Media's news server for all new content as that means I don't use up my Astraweb allowance and it's free :)

I browse nzbs via NZBMatrix at the moment but will be back on Newzbin as well as soon as the local dns servers update to show the site.

Does me just fine.

You could always ask Giga about their new Platinum Plus account. It's a special offer account that they're honouring for existing customers who ask. Basically it's the $29.99 a month Diamond package, minus the "free" VPN. It's still unlimited transfer, all the usual features, but only $19.99 a month.

Granted not as cheap as Astra, but then it doesn't have some of Astra's black hole issues, bad completion etc either. ;) I can log in to Newzbin again after a reboot too. Win. :D

Wondered when this would happen... now for their sister site ;)

Also I use Giganews - expensive, but been with them 6years and can't fault them so happy to pay the premium for something that does me well!

What software do you guys use?

Robbie, Virgin have free newsgroups?

Surely Virgin don't offer all the services that come with other services?

I'm on astraweb and hardly ever have any issues bad completion. What's 'black hole issues'?

Don't they also limit what stuff you can get from them? Many years ago when I was with NTL you had no chance of getting any copyright stuff.

Who'd want to get copyright stuff? But no, Virgin don't restrict their service in any way - in fact it's not even their service. They simply have their own DNS entry which redirects straight to Newshosting's servers in the NL.

I personally use a mix of Sabnzbd+ (serverside) and Newsleecher, on Giganews' Platinum Plus. Awesome.

Astra are well known for it - check some other forums. Basically between days x and y (usually around 350 to 450 days) they have massive incompletes. Not everybody experiences it, but the fact their customer support takes up to a week to respond to your tickets (if at all) was enough to send me scurrying back to Giganews.

That's true, however Newzbin is extremely cheap and has various bits of information that the free sites tend to miss. Like previewing NFO's, comments, things being verified by moderators etc.

I am not going to profess to never having dabbled in the art of piracy in my younger days.

But now, I only really watch films on TV and listen to music on demand on V+, I have a naff old laptop unable to play the latest games and I buy all my games on PS3/360, so have no need to pirate stuff now.

Still cant get on the newzbin site, keep on getting the site is down.
Tried flushing the dns cache etc but cant get the site up.

every forum does all of that :p (and usually has people posting all the good stuff of the paid sitestoo ;) )

And newzleech often lefts you preview nfos if they're done properly.

I know, but I personally like it's layout and it seems to be a fairly decent site compared to others I've tried.

Obviously there is something good about it else they wouldn't have so many members :p

It's extremely cheap anyway!
