*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

I just manually checked for the update and it says it's up to date now. Although it says unpacking to SD card failed etc. :/

Oh and that youtube HQ, I downloaded that from Nimbu the other day and the widget works for me.

Edit: Sorry, the widget doesn't work. I thought I was logged in. :p

Meh - applied the update... when i first saw the notification i got all excited thinking htc may have pulled their finger out of the arse and got a froyo update out nice and early... bah!

Just ordered one of these beasts. I went with a T-mobile contract, £25/month, 600 mins, 500 texts, "unlimited" internet. From mobile phones direct. I was considering going with vodafone for a similar deal... I won't get anywhere near the minutes or texts limits, but the "unlimited" internet on vodafone is only 500mb, whereas T-mobile seems to be 3Gb for an android phone. I just hope I get good 3G coverage! I know vodafone is good in the area but not sure about T-mobile.

Anyway... My old phone is scratched to **** from keeping it in my pocket. That's okay because it's just an old nokia 2230, but I'd like to keep this one fairly scratch-free. Has anyone tried those stick-on plastic scratch-guard things? Do they work well? How much harder to use / read is the touch-screen when one of the sticky things is on? Alternatively, could someone recomend a very slim case that will protect the screen?

Cheers...

from what I've read you only get 1gb and limited speed when you initially get the phone, you need to phone up t-mobile to get it 'upgraded' to the 3gb plus it frees up the 'bolt-on' which you can change to one of your choice.

I've checked for the update and get the update available, I've not rooted so I guess it's for all those haven't already updated the bootloader to 0.80 from modaco or xda.

Stuck!

Rooted fine :D

But i dunno how to pap a new image on, i want froyo or something... read something about a cri but the link i found no longer links to the into and im finding it hard to get anywhere!

Put the image for it on the SD Card, enter BOOT and flash it basically. Like so -

1. Backup your phone with titanium or something
2. Backup your micro SD onto your comp
3. Format SD to FAT32
4. Copy DEfrost.zip to the SD.
5. If your Desire is still on, turn it off now.
6. Turn it on by holding the voulme down button and enter recovery mode.
7. Start recovery-windows.bat
8. Choose wipe and then wipe data/factory reset.
9. Press volume down to get to the main menu.
10. Go and Flash the defrost.zip
11. Once finished choose reboot and enjoy Froyo.

Ahh ta, i was looking for the magic/hero method... was wondering why power on with home was doing nothing lol

Yes, I've not tried the Ahmgsk version and there's no point at the moment because it's got less features working.

He should start developing it more from tomorrow (he's on exams or something), and him and that richardtrip guy (DeFroST) are helping each other so it should speed up general FroYo progress quite a bit :p
