In what aspect? Generally larger engine - Yes. Drives like a boat? Check!
Upsides and downsides.. nothing wrong with a fiesta/punto/corsa for a first car.
Just cause this is ocuk and youre not presenting an m3 to the board doesnt mean its a bad car - esp since its your first!

You really think a mondeo is in any shape or form fun to drive? Its a pure daily grind car.
Id say youd have more fun in something a bit lighter with better handling!
Toys is true - unless your budget is quite high
You want you first car to be a mondeo to last you many many years?

it’s the way the Mondeo drives that sets it apart from rivals. It hides its size well through an almost perfect blend of supple, well-controlled ride and crisp handling, topped by great feel through the controls.
I would say down a backroad that a fiesta would be more fun than a mondeo but having only been a passenger in both I guess the statement isnt 100% fair but it follows decent logic.
Youre source is correct - welldone.
One problem but, see the word "rivals" ? That means its compared to a vectra etc! Hard contest..
Also dont forget, more toys = more to go wrong. More to service and more to pay!

The fact that it mentions "rivals" is irrelevant , what I care about is that it is cheaper and the bigger engine and having superb handing and being good to drive = win over a corsa/fiesta/punto
I havent "convinced" myself on a mondeo at all. Has anyone else suggested anything that could be better ? NO. And this isn't a spec me thread after all.
edit: When did I ask for advice?
Now I'm no expert in insurance deals, but gocompare was absolute crap when I last used it. Cheapest quote it gave was £16000 for a 12 year old 1L Micra with AA.
all this talk of fronting but how about becoming a named driver on one of your parents policy's, paying the extra so you build your experience driving their car when they are not?
Yes this means you cant have your own car and yes it means you will be very limited on when you can drive somewhere but at least it gets you started.
