Rooters, get Titanium Backup off the market, free version ;)

It can backup homescreen replacements WITH homescreen icons/widgets and data (along with everything else)

It is full of win and will prove successful when I begin flashing other roms after a wipe :p

so there's no app to make the keyboard bigger? i.e. to make the keyboard easier to use for big fingers?

You could try a different keybopard app. Better keyboard is one from the market, and also if you're rooted use the stock android keyboard.

I actually prefer the stock android keyboard myself to the HTC version. I seem more accurate with it.

Now I'm unrooted, I'm lightly annoyed with not having access to the stock Android one.

hmm ok interesting, thanks. I'm also searching for a definitive answer on whether or not the Android OS can accept push Yahoo Mail, anyone know?

As I said, making the tiles visibly bigger will have no effect, and since it's using the full width of the screen... I'm really not sure what you're expecting.

what I really wanted was an app to replace the default keyboard with a massive keypad in the shape of a regular candybar mobile 1234567890 etc. like this or something but so if you tap 2 twice you get b etc.

Does it do this -

The only thing thats stopping me from eventually rooting is having to set everything back up with a new ROM....

Is there anything out there that will back EVERYTHING up on the phone and then restore it after I flash a new ROM so that the only differences I see is that its a new ROM i.e. I dont need to set up email accounts, phonebook contacts (phone, not Google), ringtones, calendars, home screen layouts, widgets, apps etc etc.

Basically I just want to be able to turn the phone on and have it as if I didnt flash a new ROM until I want to start changing things myself.

Is this possible ??

Ahhh, a T9 layout!

:D great!! thats one of my tick boxes ticked!

Oh, and Yahoo mail is supported by Android too. (Pop, not push, unless it's changed)

It does, however you need to be rooted first :(

Once you are rooted this will do everything you ask, as far as I am aware there is nothing that allows a full and precise backup pre-root. :(
