If you jumped through a portal back to the year 1300AD

Hmm, I don't think being in Scotland during that time period would be particularly enjoyable. I'd jump back through the portal I think.

I'd them teach how to make a farting sound by putting your hand in your armpit and moving your arm in and out.

you would need to do a massive ammount of prep before going back to be able to give them anything useful...

it would be all very well to tell them about Penicillin but you need to know exactly how to make it, and also what systems and other tech you need to know in order to make the labs and factories as a few boxe's of the stuff aint gonna help many people...

you would also probably find it very difficult to communicate with them...

The most valuable thing I could give them would be an understanding of virus' and bacteria....

The first thing anyone would have to do is break the language barrier!

Good point. You'd be looking at early middle English, Norman French, medieval Welsh or Cornish, depending on where you went and what social class you mixed with. With writing in Latin. None of which would be understandable to most Britons nowadays.

If you really wanted to change history, a cure for the Black Death would be a good start...or enough power to completely close England for a couple of years. I'd be dead before 1348, but some of the people here are young enough to reach 1348 if they jumped back to 1300. You would not want to be alive during the Death.

:p

HMS Warrior was an epic ship, just a shame (well sort of) she was never used in proper combat. :D

Yeah shame, she was at Hartlepool being restored when I was a youngster, shame they took her down south again :(

I've still got a bit of sailcloth cut from the sails she had before they were replaced, its incredible material!

Would have to be careful, I can imagine helping the Army out with ideas something small like the use of ball bearings, imagine what would have been available in major wars.

If Napoleon etc had access to a nuke we probably wouldn't be here!

Other than that I would invent a sport or something

I think I could probably make a dynamo, although making enough thin copper wire wouldn't be easy.

I don't think I'd be able to make a steam engine or internal combustion engine though because you wouldn't have the machine tools to create the parts.

You realise how much inter-dependence there is on different inventions once you really start thinking about it.

thing is because of their ingorance and general lack of understanding you would inevitably be burned as a witch
