Yeah, I was tempted to sign up for Prime a while back, the problem is I dont shop on Amazon reguarly enough for it to be worthwhile at the moment, most of the time when I *do* order them, I dont mind the extra day or two and just use Super Saver. In this case I wanted the book ASAP, which meant on top of the book being a little more, so was the postage, in my case it seemed to make more sense with Play, as I use them quite a lot too.
Can't say I've ever had any major issues with Play either, but then I've never had anything via Amtrak off them, in fact don't think I've had an Amtrak delivery at all, its all City-link, RM and TNT around here. Last time I ordered a big order from Play, it came as 50 million boxes (that might be a SLIGHT exaggeration, but it was a lot!) through RM rather than via courier.

Still thats a bad experience, but I wouldn't blame Play for it, couriers can act like **** for any company, hope you made a complaint to Play so they could yell at Amtrak. Perhaps its experiences like yours that have resorted to them deciding to 'shrapnel' deliveries via RM instead!

Oh yes I complained to Play (and directly to Amtrack).

The worst for shrapnel orders are The Book Depository .... every time I order from them every book is sent separately. Even if I order 5, in stock, books in the same order I'll get 5 packages ...

Well finished my re-watch of all of A__a including re-reading both the Aqua and A__a mangas

Excellent. Pure Bliss. Even though the second half of the last season is emotionally charged it is in a good way and whilst there is sadness there is also joy.

Overall I think I preferred the last series. It felt fuller and the background art quality was better (extremely good in places) ... the CGI for comic effect was funny too (My my). The earlier series, whilst good too, felt a lot lighter in places with some stories only lasting half an episode.

All the manga is good and I would recommend it. Only it's probably best to read it after watching the anime as it will contain spoilers, (it would be nice if some more volumes were released too). There are differences with the anime with one of the characters being introduced later and one being omitted entirely which makes the stories slightly different in places.

Oh and I think in the anime I picked up one reference to a character with a name starting with something other than "A" ... do you know who it is? A clue is that you don't see the character they are only referenced.

The TRSI/Nozomi release of the anime is excellent and the included books interesting.

I'm hoping that we'll get the blu-ray release of 2.22 some time soonish, as I was extremely impressed with 1.11 (I haven't seen 2 yet).

I had a large blue sack arrive this morning that had me guessing what it was, it turns out for some reason in Frankfurt my Rightstuf order got put into a sack on it's own, no idea why as it wasn't damaged (on the plus side no customs:D).
So tonight I've got the choice of continuing with A**a, watching Ponyo, or one of the things from the Rightstuf order (I think I may watch Stelevia*).

Talking of Ponyo, that finally arrived and the deluxe package is rather nice with the postcards and sticker, and the fold open package is ok but not as nice as the R4 Spirited Away one (which was exceptional), so i'm not 100% sure if the trade off from the normal packaging for the card foldout with extra art is worth it.
On the definite plus side, it's got the blu-ray and DVD versions:) (one of the reasons I ordered it).

*Rather a nice tin for that, with a funky sliding top rather than the normal hinged door.

Yep the Stellvia tin is fairly neat with it's slidey top, although mine is a bit sticky there were the (now quite old) tape has been removed.

I'm tempted to get Ponyo on BR as I imagine it looks pretty good ... but that's low priority for me as I have it on DVD.

At the moment I would not expect to see EVA 2.22 out on DVD/BR in the US or UK before Q4 and I would expect it to be more likely to be Q1 2011.

edit: My S&W novel 2 has shipped :)

Which is why I'm going to be getting the Japanese BD version (which has no region restrictions plus I don't care a hoot that it has no subtitles).

Damn you!!
Hopefully mine will arrive about the same time as yours!
Damned lucky americans can walk into the shops and buy it now, and we're stuck waiting til the 22nd for whatever reason :(

Urm, mines coming from UP ... I should have it tomorrow or Wednesday ;)

Finished watching Rental Magica this evening. Quite a nice supernatural series with lots of action. Not an outstanding series but certainly pretty good. Presentation though, by TRSI/Nozomi, is absolutely excellent. Two half season sturdy boxsets with thinpak cases in a solid box each with large books of supporting material included. The DVDs have the episodes in both broadcast and chronological orders (I went with broadcast). Very very nice ...

:o I'd completely forgotten those guys might import it, because of the UK release!! (they've got the US release not the UK)

According to thier site, 7-10 days for delivery normally....well that beats the 22nd Junes *goes to cancel on play and reorder like his life depends on it*
If I'd realised the UK release was going to be this far behind the US release [or the US release that much quicker dependant on PoV], I'd have ordered from here a few weeks ago when I was on here comparing my RS order to UP!

*ordered...again* :D
Many thanks for the heads up, the extra £2-3 is worth the week or two quicker arrival! I'd thought you meant Right Stuf, and they usually take 2-ish weeks. :D

Can't wait! Annoying thing is I've had to change my card details on the site, and it seems it's all done manually rather than being able to amend then and there. I've stuck info in my comments so they get it changed over, hope it doesnt cause any problems with the order though because they dont read the comments, and try and process the order before the card details change!

Still damn you for having your copy so soon Andi, Werewolf/Robgnum, you got your copy yet? :p

I just watched Ponyo which was very enjoyable, and odd mix visually of being both fairly basic at times, but also very detailed at other times :)

I'm not quite sure where it sits in my ghibli preference, but very enjoyable and the soundtrack is really well suited to it (I don't know if anyone else noticed the Wagnerian influence to the music in a couple of spots, which given Ponyo's other name was quite appropriate).

Yes the music has been clearly influenced in places, but is still very good. I felt that the film was very much in the same mould as Spirited Away ... i.e. delightful fantasy.

I thought that visually the film was very good with even the simpler portions being very well done. The complex sections must look very good on BR on a large screen.

Whoops, seems I accidentally ordered the manga rather than the novel - DOH!

(When you type Spice and Wolf in UP's search, it seems only the manga [GN -I'd figured this meant general novel section or something as I've only used them once before] comes up, without a picture, and I hadn't appreciated this was how they label them [especially as the delivery time last night seemed appropriate and the listed names are almost identical] the actual novel is listed under Spice & Wolf vol 2, but doesnt come up unless you browse to it manually or just search under spice! Whoops!)

Thankfully they emailed me to let me know the manga was delayed this morning and my card details had been altered,
"Please note Spice and Wolf 2 GN delayed until July, this weeks new releases only include Spice and Wolf 2 Novel, sorry for any confusion.", so I was able to ring up and get the order changed over the phone.
Sounds like I might not be the only one who's made this mistake either, the guy on the phone mentioned the way the two different items had been labelled could be quite confusing because of how similar they were labelled, and because of the & in the name, the actual novel doesnt come up when you search for Spice and Wolf.

Apparently it should be despatched today, so should be with me by the weekend if Im lucky :D
I'm not particularly worried about when the £1 difference comes back, Im just happy to know Im getting the book that much quicker!

Edit: Seems my RS order just arrived too... in a huge blue hessian sack from Germany. Wasn't particularly expecting that, family didnt look too amused lol
Will have to open it this evening...where to begin!

I've just noticed UP1 do "bargian bundles". Entire colelction of Berserk, Black lagoon etc for £18. It seems like its the complete thing, so what's the difference between those and the ~£40 box sets?

I'd never noticed those on there, do they have a section for them or are they just intermingled?

What it could be is that if there was a re-release of the series, and they still had lots of copies of an older edition, the new editions might be cheaper, so to clear stock, they offer big collective bundles of the older release to clear it through.

They are normally the single releases instead of the boxset. Taking your first two links as an example. The first will probably contain 6 separate cases consisting of volumes 1 to 3 of each series whilst the second link will be the boxset of the series.

They added them all around Christmas (I posted about it at the time). It would appear to be, to me at least, a way of clearing out singles stock once boxsets come out. I know TRSI have done similar things (I got the second series of Ai Yori Aoshi in the same way from them).

edit: with the second pair of links it does indicate on one of them it consists of volumes 1 through 6.

You can find them with a search for bargin bundle. I never noticed what you hit with Spice and Wolf vs Spice & Wolf searches, mainly because I just normally search for Spice.

Allot of those bundles were in the xmas sales iirc.

more Black Lagoon news.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/new...oon-ova-1st-episode-to-air-in-japan-in-june/2

Black Lagoon, Sora no Woto, Junes a good month :)

Also seems that Funimation don't have the rights to Eva 2.0 yet but are awaiting offers. (Funimation Panel, Anime North 2010).

I really want Sora no Woto as I really enjoyed that series (I have a nice wall scroll for it) ... I have read that it is possible that Beez may put it out in Europe prior to a US release (for license reasons).

With Eva 2.22 ... I hear the Hong Kong BR release out later this month has English Subs ....
