Demon Plates Query + pics of car

You can't have the union flag on there unfortunately.

Yes you can.
However if you decide to have the Union Flag you still need to display a GB sticker when travelling abroad.
If you're going to have a country symbol at least get one that means you don't need to put a sticker on your car.

I spoke to two people at Demon Plates today and they said that the combined Union Jack + Euro Stars + GB text is legal so I'm not sure who to believe

It's quite clearly written on the DVLA website exactly what is and isnt legal. Why keep messing about with Chav Land Plates when all you want is a set of normal plates anyway?

I'm still trying to understand why you'd consider having the word 'DEMON' on your numberplate cool

because it's better than it saying Halfords or Harry's Home of Spares etc

Then get a dealer to print one. They hardly look bad, they look better than any other type anyway.

Plain ***!

Just knock the flag off and your good to go. Have the circle of stars and GB.

Halfords ones barely say anything because they do it in really light typeface. Thats not the reason, you specifically said you liked the idea of the term DEMON on your plates!

If you just pop to your local dealer it'll simply have the name of the dealer and the postcode, nothing else and nothing cheesy.

I'm not sure what the problem is, I want the Union Jack to show my patriotism for a country that has looked after me and my wife and for which I have been recently naturalised, and the Euro stars are handy if I ever decide to drive abroad as well as look unique as far as standard plates can within the law

Demon plates seemed to be the only place with this type of badge and the fact they put demon plates as the supplier is better than for eg Halfords. I didn't seek out this design, it just kind of developed into it.

BMW dealerships don't do a badge with the Union Jack :(

Why I need to defend my decision is beyond me, let's please not derail an otherwise simple thread regarding acrylic strips that attach to vehicles

Because having both the Union Jack and the EU symbol is not a legal plate format!

Discussing the merits of various forms of acrylic strips that fit to vehicles is not derailing a thread about number plates

If you want a ***** illegal plate with DEMON written on it, order on the internet. If you want simple, legal numberplates, pop to the your local car dealer.

If you have a look on the DVLA numberplates site, under the FAQ you will see a bit that explains it.

I think you will have to forgo the flag to be legal, but a GB with the circle of stars still looks good.

I'm willing to take my chances, I probably won't ever drive aboard.

Questioning why I want a specific plate is of no concern to yourself, just because it may be a different opinion than yours does not make it wrong.

I'm not a ***** so please don't put me into that category, I may just put the plates on and think they don't look right and order bog standard ones, live a learn

Seriously Fox, you're an intelligent, helpful guy and I value your opinion but sometimes when someone fancies something that you don't agree with, then it becomes ***** and chav - the world would be a boring place if everyone liked the same thing

It isnt a matter of opinion - the law is quite clear.

They are illegal. It doesnt really have anything to do with my opinion, does it? :p

It's entirely up to you whether you care if they are legal or not.

I guess I'm just sad to see a nice 330i heading the way all of all the others. First it was fake angel eyes, now its numberplates with DEMON on them :p

I wanted to know your opinions on the angel eyes, evidently it was shot down so they will need to wait for a car that has them oem - I am excited about owning the car I have been lusting over for years and have ideas for etc.

The only slight unique/dodgy thing is an extra flag on the plates and tiny 'demon plates' lettering from a supplier that many people on this forum suggested, it's not like I have a fluffy dashboard and aftermarket go faster vinyl stripes :)

Anyway plates should be with me tomorrow, will have to put them on and then decide how unique/dodge they look
