Valve has a surprise for us..

I truly hope it is Half Life 3. It has been my belief for quite some time that Valve will skip EP3 and go right to HL3.

Having joined Half-Life and Team Fortress series developer Valve Software in October 2009 after years of maintaining and furthering the popular Warcraft 3 mod Defense of the Ancients: Allstars, the mysterious man known only as "IceFrog" has teased that Valve will "be making an announcement soon" regarding his new project.

"There are a lot of very talented people here at Valve that are working hard on it every day to ensure high quality in a timely manner," he explained on his DotA Blog.

IceFrog had previously teased that his role at Valve would be "great news for DotA fans," adding "I finally have all the resources needed to do some very exciting stuff."

In addition, IceFrog explained how he came to be employed by Valve:



It started off with an email from Valve where they mentioned that they were big fans of DotA wanted to fly me out to spend some time with them and visit their studio. I wasn't quite sure what to expect from the trip. After arriving and chatting with them, the first thing I noticed was how much of their decision making process was like mine. They shared the same aspirations towards building a long term and sustainable community without having short sighted business goals that end up hurting the quality of the game. One of the most important things for me though was that there wasn't going to be anyone standing above telling me how I should be doing things. They trust the developers that have experience to make the best decisions for their playerbase. The atmosphere at Valve allows everyone to be very comfortable and able to focus on what they love doing. It also doesn't hurt that they are huge DotA fans.. until their favorite heroes are nerfed, then I'm the bad guy for a week!

I don't believe a word that comes out of that smug game merchant's mouth anymore, he and Valve have peddled more spin and banter than I care to think of.

randal24's prediction stands: HL2: EP3, Portal 2 + some other game at E3.
 
really hope its Half Life 3, PC only with a new engine, if its going to release on consoles as well it wont be anything revolutionary :(. Half life games have always been about a big leap in graphics for me, hope it will be the case with this one.
 
why is everyone getting so upset about what valve might or might not be telling us?

i love HL2 as much as the next person but dam why cant people just wait?
