Multi-region blu-ray players for the win ;)
Oh Yeah:D
Just spotted this on ANN
Update 2: The first two anime series will be re-issued on Blu-ray Disc in full high-definition. The Blu-ray Discs' original special video supplements will feature the anime adaptations of omake extra manga shorts from the end of the manga's compiled book volumes.
Might hold off on that dvd set and wait to see how much a Bluray set will be :)

Well finally got a chance to peel open the lot from RS today, and this nice little lot poked its head out at me. Took a lot more room in the box than it does here though because the Cavalier D'Eon box set had a place holder and disc 2 in it, and all the other discs were seperate. I barely have room as it is until I get another shelving unit, so I immediately took that out and put the discs in. Its quite a nice looking box actually. That's also why the other discs have plastic seal on and II doesn't, because it didn't have a seperate seal.

Oh...and Holo sneaked into the background because it made sense, even though S&W's been in my collection for a while (kinda works as an identity proof as well haha) :p

Once I'm ready to watch my next series, I have Ghost Hunt sitting there as well, where to begin?!
<Sods law says my multiregion player dies now...>

S&W Novel 2 despatched from UP as well :D

Few knicks and bumps gained in the trip from America by the looks of it, but its only the cover so couldnt care less!
Its thicker than the first vol too.

Not sure whether to leave the slip cover on for protection or take it off and go with the better artwork though.

I finished watching S&W series 1 in the english dub. I got used to holo's voice in the end. And i have to say, what was a little confusing in japanese made a lot more sense in english, mostly the deals, scams and ploys. In the end i felt it was a very good translation. Looking forward to seeing if they do a series 2 dub

Unfortunately there isn't any blu-ray players out there that either are region free out of the box or can be made totally region free (there is one out there but you can only change the zone not make it fully zone free).

I never said region free I said multi-region. And, as Andarial says, it is perfectly possible to purchase BR players that automatically switch regions for DVDs and can be manually switched (simply, you just hit the number equivalent to the region you want (so A=1, B=2) with the machine off) for BR regions.

And they work fine, my Panasonic plays UK, US and JP BR's quite happily.

Just butting in but are the majority/all of the panasonic ones capable of playing region a stuff?

A cheapo multi region one to play us stuff would be good.
try finding a
Foehn & Hirsch bluray player that was the make i got my dad

Can`t see them on the site i got it from, which is a little bit worrying :D

No. The Panasonic ones which I have been chipped (by the same company as Andarial mentioned above). You pay a premium for it but it works (my first multi-region DVD player came from them back in the late 90's and still works). The chipping process also does not interfere with the firmware upgrades for the player from Panasonic.

I can't comment on the cheapo ones.

They are doing season 2, Funimation have already licensed it, so likely be the same voice actors and hopefully due for release towards the end of the year. I got on fine with the deals etc in the Japanese subs so they didn't really help me there, and I still prefer the Japanese Holo voice.

Hmmm, taking the new novel a chapter at a time so I don't rush through it but gotta say I'm really enjoying S&W vol 2 so far. It really works well as a companion piece to the anime, because so far from what I've read the anime is a pretty faithful adaptation of the work.
The book goes beyond the anime adaptation by offering more internal monologues and additional scenes and snippets around those portrayed in the series, but so far it feels like the book expands on what was portrayed in the series, rather than feeling like the anime missed important components out or changed things heavily for the sake of the show, which I suppose is a good sign of a faithful anime adaptation. It's never really felt so far like the anime shortchanged you in terms of content, it just condensed down or omitted some scenes of lesser importance.
The discussion about St Reuvinheigan could have been quite funny animated however :D

Noticed a couple of minor typos and letters missing in the book so far, and still wish they'd put Wise Wolf instead of Wisewolf, but can't really complain too much.
I actually quite like the original cover art on this one, if you look closely at the drawing you can see the artist gave her an extra set of canines, to illustrate shes got a slightly more wolfy set of chompers than a normal girl, as mentioned a few times in the book, which is a nice little bit of attention to detail, and the sort of thing that often gets missed out.

Only downside is I know I'm going to have finished it come Monday, and I'll be waiting for the next book...and Amarti *glare*

That player also goes by other names (aldi stocks it under the tevion name as long as they still have it).

I believe it's in stock on another site but I don't think I can link to it here as it might be classed as a competitor.

Just rewatching Origin while i do some 3d work, even though the movie was/is a bit meh overall i still think the opening is one of the most visually stunning Ive seen in an anime. Gonzo do make some nice stuff i have to say.

Seeing as everyone is still on the topic of Blu Ray atm does anyone know if there is/will be a Xam'd Lost Memories Blu Ray release? It's one i really should watch again sometime as it was hard to follow the first time i watched it.
