JeffyB >** Running fine on my crossfired 5770's **

Hi JB, what are your idle temp's like for your GPU's? as the last one's l tried 10.5's my idle temp's went from 34'c to 46'c on my 5870, so went back too 10.4's.

I dont believe in "fixing it when its not broken". Im still using cat 10.2 and Im having no probs with games.

You do realise the newer drivers have fixes for current games & xfire don't you.

I am on the 10.5a's & they really are Cracking drivers & I won't change until the Officials comes out.

Running a 4890 clocked btw.

10.2 works fine with COH... 10.4 underscan is broken for 1080p screens...and in COH when flames are used the screen goes black. in 10.5a i get errors BSOD reset.

the problem with Ati and drivers seems to be one foot forward 3 steps back.

Sorry to hear that mate i can only relay my own experiences & in All my years I've never had a prob with ATi drivers.
Even better these days with specific game fixes & being able to instal over the top of the last.

Note.
You have to Fresh install when installing the 10.5a's though.

i figured that last night when my system bsod whilst installing 10.5 over 10.4 to do further testing.

honestly i have not owned a ati gfx card since approx 2000 which was a radeon 6600 vivo 128mb or something, ive been with 8800gt for the last 2 years and played on HDTV and COH no probs. (i only play COH these days, nothing else on PC)

then i get a hd5830 and suddenly my only game has issues all over it and ati drivers have me running work arounds such as creating custom resolutions such as 1920x1076 just so that i can play in 1080p without my screen underscanning to -8 of the actual size.. and then when engies or pios in COH use flamers the screen goes black, or if a nebelwerfer lands burning the earth the screen goes black apart from the block of flames:/ soooo annoying.

Still having loads of trouble with mine too, I was considoring crossfire but sack that! I'm just going to do a fresh install of windows with 10.2, then run this until my next build, which will almost definately be Intel/NVidia.

HDTV res and overscan works flawlessly on ATI cards, have you found the overscan settings? Even if your TV doesn't support 1:1 pixel mapping it should still work fine.

Trust me, NV is MUCH worse. I should know, I've been through 4 NV cards and 3 TVs and only when i switched to ATI did it work properly.

no it doesnt. google:

CATALYST 1080p UNDERSCAN

it works fine in Windows... right about until i enter a DX10 game. and then the scaling/underscan defaults back to original settings. oh yea and the gfx card enters 1080i mode as there are huge issues with it getting to display 1080p

not trying to disagree with you on a personal basis but i really do know what im doing.

im not even using a HDTV its an LCD TFT thats 1080p (Benq LED job). but before that i did use a 720p HDTV with my 8800GT...

and even in between my 8800GT ran my 1080p fine. i even used a 6800ultra and it ran 1080p fine... enter the 5830 and woes behold.

It defaults to original overscan settings because, as you pointed out, it switches to a different res which you haven't set the overscan settings for. Overscan has to be set separately for each res/refresh rate and with good reason.

You just need to stop it entering 1080i with a DX10 game (Crysis by any chance?) and it'll be fine. There's a fix for that just google it, I believe you are proficient with the aforementioned search engine! :p;)

Running fine on my crossfired 5770's did those having problems get them from ravens guru3d link?

Heres the driver info i have
Driver Packaging Version 8.74-100517a-100911E-ATI

This is newer then the 10.x 8.74 driver pack :D

Will give it a go and see if i get same performance!

Can you give me the link to where you got these from please jeffy?

The problem with ATI drivers is that they are always playing catch-up, this might be partly due to nvidia's stronger relationship with developers.
