*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

Isn't that just a 30 day contract though and can be changed basically at any time.
Thats the minimum term rather than the contract length per se - mobile contracts dont expire - well the T&Cs attached to them when you bought and accepted them dont...

Hoping the others get their price plans out soon so I can work out what Im gonna do in December - was gonna get the phone PAYG and then when my contract ends move to Simplicity £15 12months and then carry on buying the phone PAYG so my contract 'renewal' and phone upgrade will be out of sync...

Potentially maybe, but I doubt they're in the business of negatively changing contract terms for existing customers that could go anywhere else at any time.

Then the only thing you could haggle out of them is the amount of minutes you get as they're not about to offer you a reduced price on the phone and wont give you unlimited data

I'm not after a reduced price on a phone, or extra minutes.
I already have unlimited data :)
They've already changed the terms on these simplicity tariffs once remember, however I remain on the initial terms I signed up for as does everyone else who signed up at the time.
This is the way mobile contracts always work.

What I'm thinking of doing is buying the handset then getting the o2 simplicity £15 + the £5 bolt on for 500mb more data in October.

I'm on O2 iPhone Simplicity £20 right now, but if I stay with O2 that's what I'll be doing. Sign up for 12months of iPhone Simplicity £15 and get the £5 extra data to make it 1GB.

Or just go for the £20 Vodafone Tariff http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/iphone/sim-only.html ..... problem is that on Vodafone I'd actually be able to get through 1GB :o

Applied for my trade in with O2 today. Less hassle than eBay and it seems eBay prices and demand have already started to drop sharply.

O2 was £240 yesterday £235 today so I thought I'd start it off. Hopefully proper pricing for PAYG will be up before I have to send the thing.

In real world practice is Vodafone much better than o2 for 3g? Is the 2g as good? Currently have a HTC desire and do not have to pay any extra to tether is this the case with voda? Cheers

Nope, you don't need to pay to tether with Vodafone, but they are also introducing the same sort of hard caps as O2.

I was annoyed by the 500mb limit that o2 has brought in, but have just checked my usage and found that highest usage for a month in the last 8 months was 175mb. So I am now not actually bothered by the limit. I guess I use wifi whenever I can and now that I got an iPad I will be using that a lot when I am away so my iphone usage will not increase.

The question that remains is who provides the best coverage?

Just signed up for the o2recycle scheme, I was going to wait until PAYG prices were revealed but as its down to £235 I was worried the prices were going to plummet.

I am not amused with O2 in all of this.

AFAIK I keep the "unlimited" data package as I've been on Simplicity 20 (iPhone) for the last 6 months (and I'll be buying the iPhone 4 on PAYG, so it's not an "upgrade") but I'm already considering switching networks if they're going to screw customers.

Wasn't it their stance that unlimited meant unlimited, like they've sworn by on their internet campaigns for years? :/

It's fair to say I am disappoint.

P.s. I've registered interest in 3, O2, T-Mobile already.. you could call me a pre-register whore! ha!

Yes, and now they're not offering Unlimited, are they?

They're not selling you "unlimited" anymore. They're selling you a capped plan. Like ATT are now doing, and I expect other networks will too.

Does anyone have any experience of 3's network performance in Lincolnshire? Whatever network I'm on I'll never be able to get a 3G signal anywhere apart from Lincoln town centre, so if anyone has any experience of the 2G quality I'd like to hear it.

Although to be honest I'll probably be going with O2 again as they're the only ones supporting visual voicemail.

I am thinking of going over to 3 for the new iphone but what network do they use when not in 3 Coverage?

They share their 3G coverage with T-Mobile so you get the same coverage as T-Mobile plus the coverage from any Three operated base stations, same if your on T-Mobile, the sharing goes both ways. As for the 2G coverage, it's provided solely by Orange under a roaming agreement that Three have with them. Three don't operate a 2G network themselves.

Made me chuckle. :D

Any info on the cost of the phone itself when you sign up to a contract? I think my 18 month / £35pm 3GS 16GB was about £150 ish?

I had the email through with the tariff details but can't see the one off payment amounts on there.
