*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

I also only have the one card, and I'm pretty sure I just left the goldcard in it rather than remove it.

Spot on... I re-rooted it with the card left in and t worked perfect....

I did this rooting half-drunk just now so anyone should be able to do it sober :D

any advise on what im doing wrong. i get the same problem when i use tiny core linux method too

Is it just me but when I make a call and want to see the keyboard to do something I have to basically move the handset well away from my face before the screen comes to live? it's getting rather annoying at times look like a twit putting it to my ear pulling it away all the time

This happened to me.

Are you using the one SD card to do everything ?? If so, miss the step where it says to remove the SD card and replace with a non-goldcard. Do step 1 and then carry on with step 2 without removing the card.

Worked fine for me about the 3rd time round :)

The phone has a proximity sensor so that, when its at your ear, you dont accidentally press buttons on the screen... Not really a problem TBH

yeah im using 1 sd card to do everything.

i formatted the gold card then put it back in, and i got that error.

so what ur saying is that i shouldnt take out the gold card and leave it in there and continue the steps ?

can someone confirm this.

When I use my phone inside it wont turn the screen back on again, I have to go outside for the screen to come back on......thats even waving it about like a nutter.

This has happened to me loads & it is getting to be a real problem lol.

How much are these sim free?

When i go in the iphone 4 thread and people are mentioning scraping £500 together to fund a 16GB version i just face palm.

Superior OS and a very close call on the hardware it surely can not make ANY sense to charge hundreds more for it?

Exactly. When you have made the Goldcard and performed step 1, LEAVE THE CARD IN and then just carry on with step 2.

I just did this about 1 hour ago and it worked perfect.

No I'm fully aware of the sensor I'm commenting on it's lack of response on my handset :)

This is my point I have to turn it well away from my face .i.e point it well away from me before it will come back to live? ...... Is a real pain

i could kiss you man. no homo

life saver. cheers

so regarding updating to latest generic firmware. can i just do that normally through the phone, or should i download the ruu and do it via pc

iPhone 4 has a superior OS? Rubbish!

*insert superior for simple people joke here* :p

lol what? Read again

im saying Desore has a better OS and the hardware is very close to iphone 4 hence the reason im saying i dont get why people are willing to spend hundreds more on an iphone

Ah, well it wasn't clear from reading it but it makes more sense :p

So I finished the rooting (I think)...

I take it if the "HTC, quietly brilliant" comes up with a musical tone, its rooted ??

Interestingly enough, my internet icon has been replaced with Virgin ?? How do I change this ??

im rooted thanks to you. but i still have virgin icon for internet explorer.

ive noticed a new app in menu "superuser permissions"

is it safe to flash to generic htc rom.

does flashing to new htc rom, revert the root.

ive read that its not good to flash to new firmware because the new bootloader is somewhat incompatible ?

Am I missing something here or can't you add People into the groups? Whenever I try to add someone to a group, I can only see my Google contacts, but I can't seem to add people who are only on my phone.

Any ideas?

Yeah, I had the virgin icon as well but I just removed it and replaced it with the Internet icon shortcut (if you go to your main menu you will see Internet there... Just replace Virgin with that TBH)
