As for latest RUU... I have installed (and paid for) Titanium Backup so wont be changing 'owt till I have that all done and seeing as

A) my phone has run out of battery; and
B) I am pretty wrecked,

Hey everyone,
I installed Beautiful Widgets today.
I just noticed it keeps the GPS connected at all times, I don't want to keep turning the GPS on and off so is there a way to stop Beautiful Widgets continuously using it?

Im ready to go today.

12 Hours at work, Laptop, Phone, new Sandisk card, and a Linux live disk (Just in case)

So let's see how it goes. Im going to take screenshots as i go and make a HOWTO on rooting the desire, as i think the ones out there are abit rubbish

If it fails again with the new sandisk im gonna have to smash this one up and get a 3rd one, lol

Decided im going to start off with formatting my laptop (It's over due anyway)

HAHA! Managed to get past step1 Not sure if it was the new sandisk card or something was wrong with my old windows install. But it worked.

But now on step2.

I removed my GoldCard, and put in my other SDcard. Turned the phone back on and went to BOOTLOADER and then RECOVERY.

Used the step2 command and when it completed instead of taking me to the recovery screen so i can wipe it just rebooted the phone

Did anyone else have this?

Haha yeah all done, now lets take bets for how long it takes me to break this Desire and have to do it all over again with a new phone

Downloading DeFrost atm (10kb/s ) to give 2.2 a try. Not bothered about the Light Sensor and video recording for now but if i get the echo people seem to be talking about then ill have to switch to a 2.1 ROM.

Just a quick update, MyBackup Pro seems to backup apps + app data completely now so anyone wanting just a single backup and restore app should give that a try. It's not as vast as Titanium in system data backup though but I'd still use both, the latter for app+data and the former for system data (mms/sms etc).

Khaan where do they backup too? SD card? Or PC? If so i can use the 2gig SD card to keep for all backups which will be ideal

MyBackup can backup online or to the SD, Titanium is SD.

Tried out Launcher Pro yesterday then uninstalled it. However, I've re-installed today but it doesn't seem to be running - no choice when I hit the home button and nothing appearing in Task Killer. Anyone know how to force the app to start?

Remember to get ROM Manager as well, makes backing up and restoring as well as flashing new ROMs much simpler.

It'll be interesting to see how your battery life is. I've gone back to 2.1 as I couldn't even get a days use out of it.

I have been using launcher pro for a bit now can't remember when I had Sense on, using the Sparta rom and loving it.

Just had to change the keyboard to the HTC IME one.

Don't like the Android default one at all

Right so there is two things i miss about sense.

1) Keyboard (been sorted)

2) Linking contacts to facebook.

Is there an APP to do this?
