Booted up a minute ago and got this horrible vibration/rattling sound coming from my case. I couldn't locate the sound before it stopped, but having heard the stories I'm worried it's my 1Tb sammy F1 on its way out. It's only a few months old and used as a storage drive so I'm hoping that's not the case (HD tune shows everything as fine). Can anyone else let me know what signs I should be looking out for if it is?

Could be, but when I've had that problem (with many many PC's) it's usually the fan as the oil/grease has dried up and its struggling.

Hmm, well that's reassuring, I did hope it'd be a dying fan but didn't want to ignore it just in case (acronis is running as I speak :p). next time I hear it I'll try to get the case open sooner. I'll have to make sure it's not my cpu cooler fan!

With mine it was fine once it got going, but it's never been that loud spinning up. It was louder than all my fans put together and sounded as though the HDD had come loose and was rattling against the case (toolless drive bay though). I'm hoping it's a one-off, but if the drive is on the way out what sort of things would I be looking for?
