360 "slim" and natal to be called Kinect?

No I am 25 and I didn't know it bothered you so much

It is just a habit, I don't think Microsoft are some big bad company (in case that is the angle you are trying to hint at). Just a habit. Jeez!

It doesn't bother me per se, I just think it's a rather childish thing to do that's all.

Does DLC copy to USB stick for transffering to another console?

I've been reading other forums and they say put the DLC on a USB stick.

I thought from here you can just re-download DLC to the console once it's verified?

I only have DLC for Forza 3/MW2 and both GTA4 chapters, but I would hate to be in the position I trade my console in and get screwed on the DLC front.

I take it game saves and profiles are not big, I think I have about 96Gb free on my elite at the moment, and most of that is old demos and my Forza 3/RDR install.

Personally I think it's still too expensive.. Not sure on UK prices, but in the US the PS3 can be had for $299, which is the same price you can pick these up for.. Seeing that the PS3 has an excellent BD player and free online play still makes it the better choice for newcomers. Microsoft should have really tried to come in lower than Sony and make it the more attractive option.. Not the other way round.

My guess is they can come in at £199 now to profit off the keen, lower the existing elite to £149 or so to remove stock and then they're still in a position to have a price cut at the end of the year to £159/£169 or so.

Does anyone know if the drive noise is quiter? I'm guessing it is.. OK so we know the idle fans are quiet, but what of when a game is spinning away.. Though I'll be installing games since 250gig is ample, it would be nice to know...

I'm hoping to have mine by the end of the week.

Wow, if you don't mind me asking, how are you getting it that quick. I'm very interested in getting this, but like you, need to know how noisy the drive is.

I would have thought that it would be highly unlikely.

It's a new console, and given the price point it's coming in at, and dropping the current top model down in price, it shows that a straight replacement for the new 360 isn't a valid exchange.

Their first priority will be to get it repaired. Also, don't forget that just because Microsoft may no longer be making the older Xbox, doesn't mean that stock is going to be totally exhausted. This new model has crept up quite well, I'm not aware that there have been much in the way of reports of Xboxs in short supply, where retailers would clearly be holding less stock because of a new machine coming.

Instead, as they are dropping the price of the Elite, there will still be plenty of stock around for sometime, especially available to large high-street retailers. Then you also have to consider that if it does go back to Microsoft, they still have plenty of reserve stock available to themselves and more importantly, they have the parts to fix damaged consoles.

So in summary, I don't think you are likely to get a new 'slim' Xbox by taking your old one back to the shop, even if it was broken.

Well here is a story, I am not obliged to wait on the retailer sending a console off to MS for repair ( having had numerous 360's red ring and getting a straight over the counter replacement every time ) and when my PS3 40gig croaked it I was given a brand new 80gig model as they had no 40gig models left.

The retailer is responsible to give a replacement of equal value so even if the elite is reduced until all remaining stock is cleared and when I go to the retailer when I am sure they have no stock left in store, my receipt for £200 elite will entitle me to a replacement slim of the same value.

Think the drive is meant to be quieter. However, you would be stupid not to install the games to the hard drive what with the 250Gb HDD built in, so the DVD drive shouldn't be an issue anymore.

Were they all outside of 12 months?

So this is an Elite replacement? And they still selling the Arcade? So surely if your 360 goes down wont they just give you an arcade model and tell you to keep the HDD?

I think the existing models will be sold off and that'll be it.. No more Arcades, Elites, Pro's... It was a confusing business model for the impulse un-aware buyer anyway !

DLC to my knowledge does transfer via a USB device if needed but as long as the same profile is logged in that it was purchased on you can re download for free.

Im struggling as i have only got the 20GB model and most of my DLC is taking everything up and im down to a single GB so hopefully instead of getting a new HDD i shall just get a new console!

I wonder if this will force Sony to move the 120GB PS3 down to the £199 price point... although it would still be a hard sell given the 360 now has built in Wireless-N, extra gubbins, twice the HDD space etc.

Hmmm…. I actually need a Wireless Adaptor for my Xbox, I’ve got a PS3 that I don’t want anymore, and was going to put my Xbox360 in its place. Meaning that due to the PS3 having built in wireless I’d need wireless for my Xbox360.

No to get into it, but my PS3 has been a nightmare of a machine – started out so well but now its not been used for 7 months or more. What could I expect to get for a PS3 40GB fat model, with a none dual shock controller? No games?

If I sell both the elite 360 I’ve got and my PS3 this’ll mean I can use the funds towards a 360 slim, save the £50 for a 360 wireless adaptor and have just one console and my PC to give me my gaming fixes across two platforms..

Hmmm cool..!!

Is it confirmed this only has a 1 year warranty (compared to 3 years for RROD and E74 issues on earlier revisions?).

Someone mentioned it earlier in the thread but I did not see any sources.
