FBI, facebook, UK etc.. Good? Bad?

Since I don't go to that school and haven't for 3 years, I would rather they use actual evidence to arrest people.

Like I said above though, surely they could have IP traced the real person behind his threat quite easily? Or they could have come round and knocked on my door and asked to look at me before forcing me out in the street at gunpoint in my boxers?

Like I edited out originally, I was told at least twice on that day that they were doing all of this "so that they could be seen to be doing something after what happened in Cumbria" - essentially minding their own backs at the expense of innocent people. Is that what we want from a police force?

If that's true it defies belief how teachers ID'd you from a photo if you haven't attended in three years. For you to then be arrested and have stuff taken is very extreme.

What is the real story here, was it posted on Facebook as per the article or was it on 4chan?

Surely if it was FB then the account would be linked to a real person?

Sorry bud but they can seize them and also retain them until such a time that they are not required.

But surely that 'such a time' was the same day, the same moment that they saw my face? :p

This has opened my eyes to the powers the police have in this country, anyway. Is there any country that doesn't allow it's citizens to be treated in such a way?

I did some coding on NarusInsig..............

What, who are you? Get out of my house. Arrrrrrrghhhhhhh!...................

Don't forget that those powers you mention also include disproving your involvement if that is the case. ( not a dig at you. )

Can't talk any more, the sun is out and there is an espresso with my name on it at my favourite caf. :)

As a final note, contrary to what some may say, this isn't a fit up. If you are not involved in any way then that will come out in the wash.

The only explanation for the teachers having ID'd me from a photo (of a completely different person) is that I left school in Year 11 with depression (I'm autistic and struggle with socialising and such) and ended up in mental health services for less than a year. However, I have never made any threats against the school and have never been bullied. So even then, it doesn't add up to it being me. Kneejerk reaction and using me as a scapegoat, I guess.

I've been in constant employment since then though, and I'm going back to college in September. I'm also saving up for a Rover 75.

Just a quick question though: could the FBI have gotten 4chan to trace the IP of the actual person who posted it in the first place? They could have arrested the correct person in the first place then, surely?

4chan doesn't keep logs, after it 404'd then it's very unlikely they would have been able to trace it.

You seem quite vocal with your condemnation of the police but not quite so vocal as to what you would do differently bearing in mind it could be argued that it isn't your average Facebook joke and also that the full information and case details are not know by you nor I nor the media.

I was commenting on the post I quoted where a guy was arrested for a throwaway comment.
