*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

I am planning on grabbing a pay as you go iphone 4 since my sim and contract is paid for by my work, however atm we use o2, but when our current company contract runs out on July 10th we may switch to Orange.

I understand if I buy an iPhone 4 from the apple store that it is unlocked so will be fine, however on the 24th I'll be nowhere near an apple store so will have to rely on picking one up from an o2 / orange / tmobile etc store, will the non contract phones from those stores be locked to the provider I buy from or also unlocked like the apple store ones?

If you buy a PAYG phone from a network it will be locked to provider and o2 have said they won't be selling PAYG phones at launch.

:p

Sorry 'bout the delay - wasn't getting notifications and emails were not getting through the firewall at work (will fix that monday with a hammer )

Anyway, gonna use the reservation myself (and treat the Mrs ;))

No problem mate, if you change your mind (unlikely) email me! :)

You're assuming a lot there - my guess is anyone who hasn't pre-ordered will struggle to find anywhere with them in stock for at least a couple of weeks.

Even after all this hype, I'm going to upgrade from a 3G to a 3GS. Should hopefully get a good deal (I heard a mention that O2 are going to offer great upgrades to existing customers going to a 3GS).

The Apple store in the Birmingham Bullring opens at 8am on Thursday, the actual Bullring doesn't normally open until 9:30am but they are making an exception. What do you think my chances are of getting an iPhone 4 on Thursday if I'm in the queue at 8am?

I'm getting mine from the Bullring store and have reserved one :) as for your chances, I guess it all depends on how many they are getting and how many of those have been reserved.

Yeah, I would assume they have a certain amount of non-allocatable stock which they save for release day. I might go and have a word with them on Monday and see what the situation in looking like. I work in the city centre from 9am so it won't be too much hassle to head in a little earlier if I have a chance of getting one.

Jackal - is it too late to reserve one from the store now?

well my sister's happy, she got a 32GB White Iphone for £320 and has 9 months Applecare, but it does have a spec of dust at the bottom of the screen which can only be seen when the phone is off.

I wonder how long its going to take Switcheasy to release cases for the Iphone 4, I don't want my phone to be naked for too long.

Naked is better, putting a case on it prevents me from enjoying the natural beauty of the phone which Apple have done a great job of. Essentially I would just be protecting it until the day I sell it on which I think is pointless. My 2 year old iPhone 3G still looks excellent and it has never once been in a case or had a screen protector on it.

I got a gel case off eBay for £4, it'll last me til I decide on what case to get long term. There's pretty much two sellers who actually have cases in stock in the UK at the mo. Came today:

Screen protectors on the way too. I'll put one on and see if it affects the screen, I reckon the cheapy ones might spoil the display a bit. Only £3 though so no harm done.

nice, that will do me for now but I doubt they had an actual Iphone to get to measure out the correct dimensions etc.

I don't mind it naked at home, its when I take it out with me.
