Hair Straighteners :s

Because they work, I use GHD's and I've used cheaper brands and they don't do as good a job.

I was given a set by my mother who was no longer using them when I started growing my hair longer(unfortunately my hair curls slightly outwards at one side :p). I dropped them on a carpeted floor and they snapped. That exact day, I was in Birthdays buying cards, picked up a cheap pair(can't remember the price but CHEAP) and subsequently used them for years without fault. And this is someone who spends on average £40 for a hair cut.

Edit; I'm not saying a cheapo pair of straighteners from Birthdays is the answers as you still get a better quality product from more established brands. I'm just staying, they aren't the be all and end all. :)

lets face it who cares how good they are...they are 'the' best from a name point of view, anything less and she'll divorce you *

I hate the way everyone claims GHDs are the best. No, they aren't. There are far cheaper alternatives which look and do exactly the same job.

Do girls even bother about GHDs anymore? Probably not, yet everyone on here seems to think they do.

Spot the lack of a woman . . . . :p

GHD's are excellent quality, there is a reason the salons use them!
SWMBO has tried others and always complained, got a set of GHD's and they have lasted 4 years now. Still going strong.

Yes and like Apple, they are over hyped and generally on par with the markets cheaper alternatives. It doesn't take a load of research either.

I'm just saying to the men out there: Not all girls follow the crowd and demand a set of overpriced GHDs.

I've been getting my hair straightened with GHDs at T&Gs for the past 4 years and still maintain the exact same results with the cheaper variety. As does my GF and a lot of girls I know.

:)

How long is your hair? Massive difference is straightening short hair and long hair effort and time wise.

I have done research and brought a pair Babliss 230 which were supposed to be amazing, same with Kodo's and T3's. Always went back to the GHD's as they done my hair much quicker, didn't snag any bits, unit stays cooler in my hand, less effort to clamp shut (makes a difference if you are spending 5-10 minutes using them).

OP,

I bought my gf some ghd's for xmas a couple of years ago, she uses them everyday and loves them, they are the most important thing to be packed now if we go away, to the point that they even end up in my luggage sometimes....

A couple of things about them though, firstly they take a lot less time to warm/heat up and she claims they work faster than other straightners shes had before, e.g. less runs through her hair. Which is a plus because it means you spend less time waiting for them whilst they're faffing around! (Or at least thats how the theory goes )

Secondly there are a hell of a lot of fakes out there. If you go the the GHD website they will give you a list of licensed websites that are allowed to sell them. Also look out for their COA.

The last thing you want to do is to spend £100 on fakes.

Just a heads up. ;)

Admittedly, my hair isn't that long. This length:

I can't remember the other brands I've seen off the top of my head but I do know a few people(including my GF) who have used GHDs and find the alternatives to perform just as well.
