I bought an Intel X25-M 160GB G2 earlier this year for near £300, used it for a few weeks then decided to sell it for cash. I downgraded to a 2TB Samsung F3, partitioned for OS and general storage. I've since bought another Intel X25-M 160GB G2, as it was going cheap as chips, but I am not convinced it's worth the money againm as I didn't really miss my SSD whilst I was using the 2TB F3...

I understand that my current drive and setup isn't ideal, so I want to add a new smaller hard drive in for my Windows 7 installation and keep the 2TB F3 purely for file storage.

Question is - which mechanical hard drive would give the best performance at a reasonable price? [Price under £60, and space not crucial but minimum 200GB required by OS and games]

Thanks :)

Velociraptor or Samsung F3 or WD Black

Edit- For under £60 it will have to be the F3 I think.

I was trying to choose between those exact 3!

The Velociraptor is a little too expensive, but is the WD Black worth the extra ££ over the F3 or should I stick to the F3? I doubt there would be such noticable real-world difference.. right?

just curious as to why you didnt like the intel drive?
It's simply cost vs gain. It's too expensive for some millisecond differences ;/

EDIT: Considering this as it would be future proof and has 64mb cache plus 5 year warranty - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-342-WD

Thoughts?
