Plan to get a whole load of windows live enabled games later this week as want to boost my old gamerscore.

I have got all the achievements on fallout 3 (thanks to the built in addachievement command in the console :D)

I have Street fighter iv if anyone want to help get some online achievements on that (100 wins for example)

Will be getting Shadowrun, kane&lynch, halo 2,warhammer dawn of war 2+exp,universe at war plus maybe a few others later.

Also need to get some achievements for the Game room

Anyway my gamertag is Shenjoo if anyone interested.

Well i use to own a 360 about 3 years ago and learned about the Games for windows live thing and decided i'd try to get soem points on the pc live games,Only because you can generally pick up most live games for cheap as there mostly old.

I don't think you'll find many achievement whoring PC gamers. I think you should go to the 360 forum to find those type of people. :p

I like achievements, they give the game a longer life, and I enjoy chasing them. However, I don't understand why people would let themselves be beaten 100 times in SF4 to get an achievement. It's not an achievement then is it? It's you cheating.

Absolutely do not get the achievements thing.

I was reading a forum thread somewhere (may have been this forum) where some guy was was complaining about how he though Mirrors Edge was carp and how peeved he was once completing it. Not because of graphics, gameplay, story or controls. No. It was because he thought it did not have enough achievements and he thought he had wasted his time playing it.

oh dear.

I stopped playing that game straight after the first cut-scene as there was no achievement for having watched it. Sign of an unfinished game in my opinion as the developers obviously couldn't be bothered adding them in.

:p

Honestly don't see the point in most of the achievements in games, especially since most of them aren't really achievements. I think TF2 is the only game where I will actively chase achievements but only because some of them are fun to hunt down.

I don't play games for achievements, and achievements certainly don't affect my enjoyment of a game, but if a game has achievements I'll probably try and get them all just to make the game last longer/get my money's worth.

That and L4D/2. Those are actually fun.

I so enjoyed doing Akimbo Assassin in L4D1, and Confederacy of Crunches in L4D2. I just liked the challenge of playing through a campaign with different odds at play.

I must say, achievements usually come by as a byproduct of just playing, so the fact that one may need to go out of their way to do something isn't so much of an achievement but... just someone doing a set of instructions.

Left 4 dead is a game based around the concept of replaying the scenarios, so any system which contributes to the variety of challenges and goals within that framework will make the experience better all round. Suppose it's the same with TF2.

With something that's supposed to be super-immersive like Fallout 3 though, I find the idea of achievements quite distracting. Say, for a totally made up example, I'm exploring this amazing wasteland, see a super mutant running towards me, **** my pants and start shooting while running away, then up comes a box saying "you have earned an achievement!!!".. Really think that kind of thing takes away from enjoying a game :p.

Gamerscore though.........really?!???!??!? XD
