Who bought and played this and enjoyed it?

I've been playing it a little and am unsure at the moment but the GFX are nice and I enjoy the combat... What are peoples thoughts and opinions on this?

Played to about half way through but it get very repetitive, was hoping it would be similar to Freelancer.

I played it and completed the main quest line, which is a bit unusual for me. Unfortunately it was when the game first come out and I have only vague memories of it indicating it wasn't that memorable :).

The game it self was perfectly fine, although I recall it being a bit on the slow side. There was however a few missions that were very difficult and needed to be redone a large number of times before success was achieved. It was so bad the there were people on the official forums who offered to take a save game and do the mission and return it for those who really had problems.

I liked the space combat (so few about) and the ship upgrades were interesting, but there seemed to be very little to do apart from the main quest line.

Half way through? Wow some people have a high threshold for boredom. I got bored of the bloody DEMO!

Freelancer is a better game [similar genre] but again, tends to get repetitive fairly quickly. I dunno what it is with those games. There has to be something more they could do than simply "get quest, go to copy-pasted piece of space #3567, kill same 4 pirates, go home". At least stuff like Elder Scrolls or Fallout 3 have interesting places to visit. :p

boring game in my view console guys are getting it soon hope they add some new ideas or it will be another flop on the xbox :) and not just a flop on the pc

I highly dealt its better than freelancer althrough I was tempted to get i.

too bad MS pulled the plug on freelancer :(

Downloaded the demo, thanks for the link btw. :) Looks quite pretty. I can immediately see the appeal of space games, flying around etc, and apart from when you're in battle, it's so peaceful and serene. Don't know what the hell I'm doing though so I need to read up a bit. :)

I completed it, it's an OK game, if you like space shooters then worth checking out. Dogfighting is flawed in that often you end up literally just circling each other, I've still yet to find a better game for pure combat that Freespace 2.

There is one very cool bit where you team up with all your buddies you've met along the way to attack a mothership, that was 'epic' as the saying goes.

Another vote for Freespace 2!

No game since has really captured the immersion of massive space battles in and around HUGE capital ships and space stations. The story is pretty good too and the voice acting is very good.

I want Freespace 3 damnit
