*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

Just read up on the Zagg website and they will replace the protector if the phone has to go away to be repaired.

Just need to pay shipping / admin fee which is about $3.

Just been using the wifi on the iphone 4 even though my sim isn't activated yet. What a MASSIVE improvement over the 3G. The clarity of the screen, the sharpness of the text, the speed at which websites are loading up, it is instantly noticeable. Do not seem to have any wifi issues at all, so the screen and wifi seem to be all clear. Just waiting on O2 to get this damn sim activated so I can test out the reception...

:)

I don't really get the bumper, I mean the silver lining is probably the least likely place the phone would be scratched, the back however is a different matter, I want that hidden ASAP.

Just turned my phone off and on and it's activated, result :)

I am trying it now, although I tried that about 5 times before. :p Does it make a difference that my old sim which is still active is still in my old phone and still switched on? I assume that would simply be de-activated once the new one is active?

edit: Nope didn't work. :(

haha ebay....

on my iphone 4

Q:Hi, Would you consider a buy it now price of £400 all inclusive (of p&p) for this item? I have 500+ positive feedbacks and would pay immediately. Please let me know either way, and if acceptable, e-mail me (and wait for my reply) before submitting the revised listing on eBay. Thank you

A: My dad likes cows, however I prefer pelicans and sharks. That sentence is slightly less mad than yours.

I turned my old handset off the rebooted the iPhone

I'm gonna turn both off in about an hr, go to bed and hope tomorrow morning it's activated.

Then I can test it more thoroughly. So far so good though, I have to say the device is even better in real then in the pictures. :)

I've been reading about this signal issue for quite a while now.

As was suggested a few pages back there is a chance that the radio firmware (the software that controls the antenna among other things) is somehow detecting your hand bridging the gap, and from that, adjusts the signal in some way.

Something like this would be the best case scenario as it could be rectified easily with a software update.

There is absolutely no way in hell any of you should 'accept' the fact you can improve the situation by using a bumper, or be happy that you don't use your phone in your left hand. (Take a step back and think about this for a minute if you are of that frame of mind)

I am also quite surprised we still haven't had any official word from Apple on this?

On the flip side, it would appear the iPhone 4 is not alone with this issue, my HTC Desire drops a bar or two when you pick it up(difficult to tell though as it has a weak signal anyway due to where I live) , as does the 3G and 3GS. Its just not been quite as potent as it is now.

However, there is a difference between losing a bar or two, and losing 4/5 bars and your signal altogether!

I woulda slapped him on the todger after that.

I take it the employees are mainly all raving fanboys anyway?

Most looked like absolute prats. This was the first time I have ever been escorted into an apple shop, and the first time I have ever spoken to an apple employee.

He said it with pure conviction as well, he was adamant the competitors must be spreading lies to try sell their own products lol.

Hmm it appears I no longer get reception loss when I turn wifi on, the signal stays full strength regardless of where I touch the phone. I'm on Three btw :). As soon as I turn wifi off then I get signal loss when touching mainly the bottom left.

Which store? Arndale or Trafford?

So has anyone made an appointment at the Apple store with a genius about the reception issue?

I suspect it's very unlikely they'll have any replacements given the shortage of stock, but it might be worth a go.

If you demonstrate it in a loud voice, I suspect you'd get a decent chance at a replacement though ;)
