*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

Well so far I'm very impressed with mine. I've not noticed any issues with reception. Often with these things people make mountains out of mole hills. With far less people having the issue than people make out.

The screen is superb and it's so much faster than my 3g. The camera is awesome and iMovie is surprisingly useful. Only complaint so far is the new screen makes not updated apps look poor.

No reception problems, but I don't hold my phone in the specific way needed for it to break, so not really a problem for me and no yellow spots.

Very happy so far! I just wish Twitter supported Push!

Time to go and test the camera now. :)

Which would be exactly the same. It's pretty clear that it's a fault with either the physical design of the phone (most likely) or possibly could be ironed out by software, in the event that it's the antennas confusing each other, possibly that something can be done.

Either way - it's all the phones, not some. The only variation is down to how strong people's signal is in the area they try it. Yell all you like, you're phone's not broken, it's flawed.

Are people actually completely losing signal when they pick the phone up or is it just a case of the signal strength bars drop a bit ??

I live in a fringe area in a 300 year old house with walls over 3 feet thick, on my blackberry storm 9520 there are dead spot all over the house, my sofa for instance I get no signal there. But with the new iphone I haven't found a dead spot yet, reception is miles better in my hand or not. I think its a non issue.

We got our iPhone 4 yesterday and haven't had a single problem with it.

Unlike the 3GS, which did drop the signal when you held it, the 4 is rock solid. We get nearly full bars when at home which is unheard of for us :D

I've tried pushing the silver strip at the bottom left and can't get the signal to drop. Seems we've got a good one.

for us at least, the strenght is 40% better than the 3GS

Anyone got Co-pilot working? Mine starts but with 2 small activation screens at the top of the picture?

Not working for me either - same issue......

Contacted CoPilot on this same issue and received this reply.

Thank you for contacting CoPilot Technical Support.
Please be aware that we have an update coming very soon which will fix this. The update will also add full support for iOS 4

New Embed update.

I get 1, or 2 bars if im lucky in my house with o2

Oh the joys!

*Question*
As im new to the iphone please bare with me as noob questions will be coming out of my mouth/fingers.

Where the wifi icon in inside when i go outside i get a blue ring. what connection is that?

Thanks

Turned off the old handset and restarted the new iPhoine?

Just tried it, both have been off all night anyway. Is there any way I could possibly have the wrong msim? I am on PAYG and did give the guy in the o2 shop my number before he handed me the msim. I have tried activating it again anyway through the o2 website, so let's see how it goes today...

Did you just get the SIM or the envelope it comes in? As that clearly states iPad or iPhone on it.

The blue ring is a 2g data connection, either GPRS or EDGE. 3G connectivity is shown with a "3G" icon.

Ahhh nice one, Thanks boys.

Next question coming at ya soon :p

Edit

I made a new back up last night and synced for the first time. i was unaware this just installed new versions of the apps.
So for example my games no longer have saved data.
Am i able to do a restore using my ipod's back up? or will this delete the phone apps n stuff ?
Or are they protected?

as i remember u didint even need to put sim on free sim version just plug usb and wait in itunes, it have to write congrats iphone is unlocked and then put sim

Uh oh....

I put in my (un-activated, straight out of the bag) O2 MicroSIM in my SIM-Free 32GB before connecting to iTunes. iTunes then activated the phone, and I had a nice iPod touch for a few hours whilst waiting for O2 to swap my SIM over.
When iTunes activated it didn't mention anything about being unlocked. Does that mean as it had an O2 SIM in iTunes thought it was meant to be a contract iPhone and has locked it to O2?

I don't see what the big panic is, everyone that has bought the iPhone 4 has atleast a 1-year warranty so if you do have the antenna problem then just wait it out a few weeks and get a replacement.
We don't know yet if Apple are planning on fixing this (by changing the design) or if they are going to stick with the "You're holding it wrong" line. Therefore a replacment iPhone 4 will still have the problem.

If the way I hold the phone does it, and Apple don't announce a recall, I'll be taking it back for a refund under the 14 days. I'm not changing myself to suit the fault in the phone's design.

So are you saying that when you hold you phone you are unable to make/receive calls ?
