*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

this reception thing is kinda peeing me off, just hope mine turns up and is not a dud one. even so i have been using my old sony ericsson for 2 months now and cant take it anymore. theres no other phone out there that i want :mad:i would perhaps consider an HTC or Blackberry if they werent made of bits of plastic boshed together

Tried that, still happening!

I had that on my 2G one. it would turn itself on when off, like magic. I would leave it on the desk and magically it would boot itself. The sync socket thinks it is being plugged into itunes/usb and it boots up.
My suggestion is blow hard, try a "rocket blower" if you have one. Something that can squirt air.

The weird thing is it still happens when it is connected to USB cable/dock.

Ive got a can of spray air here in work, when i can get away from by desk ill give it a blast.

This is the error:

Are there such things as signal boosters? (o2 signal is rubbish)
My dad seems to think there is something that can. But im aware there are probably multiple scams on the interwebs for such items.

Popped into the Arndale after my eye check up. about 9am. first in line hardly anyone there. Very civilised. Bought 2. Went to the 02 store to get a microsim, lazy sods dont open till 10.30. Guy was there, not being helpful all i wanted was a microsim. So I left.

Went home, did a pretty naff job on cutting it down. but it works.. Overtrimmed it:)

Waiting it to finish syncing before I try the reception problem.

EDIT: bugger. Meh...

Plus the fact it was out of his car so I'm guessing on concrete. I'm pretty sure dropping a 3GS/3G on concrete would do damage. Infact I know it would, mine cracked and chipped all over the place when I did it on a night out

Ok, I've been experimenting with the bottom-left signal strength thing.

When at home, if I hold it left handed with the flabby bit of my hand covering the metal on either side of the black plastic, I lose about four bars (From 5 down to 1).

When at work and I do exactly the same, it does nothing whatsoever. Can't replicate it at work, but can consistently replicate it at home.

I'm on Orange UK. Perhaps relates to how strong your signal is (I'm giving five bars means signal strength is perfect for the phone, but it can still be better). I think it's stronger at work (Looking outside of the window I can see about 5 mobile masts).

When alls said and done though, I hold my phone left handed but with four fingers. And I never touch that part naturally. So I'm happy. :)

I don't see what the big panic is, everyone that has bought the iPhone 4 has atleast a 1-year warranty so if you do have the antenna problem then just wait it out a few weeks and get a replacement.

Despite what some of the clear Apple haters say in this thread it's still the best phone ever released.

Best iPhone fanboy comment yet :)

Get your head out of Mr Jobs' backside and have some perspective for once in your life. Jesus christ.
