*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

Exactly. It IS an issue. I know for a fact that if I was left handed I would be very, very annoyed right now.

Im left handed and have no problems when i take my bumper case off.

I can only make my wifi drop if i grip it in a stupid way, holding it normally isn't causing me a problem.

im right handed and hold my phone in my left hand, as i wouldwear my watch on my left wrist. really gonna be peeved if i get this issue

This thread is hilarious - why is it that the people that dont own an iPhone are 'SHOCKEDOMGFAILZ' and those that do have the phone are rightly a bit annoyed (if it does even affect them) but dont feel the need to post the same thing over an over?

Anyway the bottom section appears to be easily removable as there are two little screws so surely they could replace that section with another piece covered in some sort of non conductable coating??

just looked at my account apple still havent taken payment..I thought it would be gone this morning. They shipped the phone on the 23rd and I got it yesterday..just want them to take the money now so I dont spend it!

what would happen if I didnt have enough money to cover it when they do call for it ??

Same here, its a bit annoying they can't just take the money upon dispatch like every other company...

Must just be me then mate. I've held it in my left hand as i would with my right when i'm txting and experience a drop in signal.

Perhaps because they find it hilarious that Jobs and his devout following think this device is the best thing since sliced bread and nothing else can touch it because its an Apple product, yet the majority (or so it seems) of people that have bought them are told they can't hold it in a certain way or it will not provide it's primary intended function as a phone.

I don't have one but I think it's ridiculous that they release this supposed amazing device which has such a huge problem with it and they are refusing to acknowledge that they got it wrong.

Well this was always the case with the iPhone and even more so with the 4.

Being an actual 'phone' was/is its weakest role. But everything else, design, usability, music, etc etc. Its slick compared to everything else in this department.

Tested mine, bars do drop but doesnt completely go. When actually on a call, it didnt drop.

So why the post the same thing over and over and get so het up and label people fanboys?

There is one thing I don't like about the phone.[snip]..its the form factor.

I used to be able to put my 3G in my pocket, with the screen towards my leg, and I would pretty much forget it was there such was the curved sleek edges. This more 'rigid', blocky design, although feeling far more soild and well built, really does annoy me when I try the same.

Ha, I was thinking exactly the same thing. I was always certain with a quick pat the screen was pointing inwards.

After watching some videos I'd never have an issue. Some people had to hold it in some of the most bizarre ways possible...that said it shouldn't be like this.

But on the other hand my Nexus One had similar issues and a dodgy touch screen.

What a good idea! That would solve the problem no matter how you held the phone, and not that much of a big deal to apply - could even be done in store while-you-wait and not have to replace or send the phone away.

I wonder if aftermarket 'bottoms' will appear!

Therefore defeating the antenna/making it useless?

Most phone antennas are inside the phone / covered by some non conductive material...

In fact, I remember when we all had those Nokias with Xpress-on covers on the front and back that it always said "dont touch the internal antenna, it does weird things to the signal".

Rubbish. Covering an aerial with a non conductive surface will not make it useless at all. If that were the situation, what about all the other phones that have the aerial inside the case, they wouldn't work. If it were conductive and connected to ground then it's a different matter, but that's not being suggested.

A thin layer of some kind of lacquer will probably resolve this 'blown out of proportion' issue.

The droid fans love to opportunity to knock the iPhone down a few pegs and the people that bought them and emoing that their new toy doesn't work properly.

Personally I'd be furious if I'd just bought one and it had this issue. Would be going straight back for a refund not a replacement.
