keeping your home cool at night.

Ceiliing fan best thing I ever bought works fine at keeping me cool upto 25c and on the very rare occasion of hotter then I put the AC on and it blows the cold air around :D

People have AC in this country?
It's nowhere near that hot to warrant that!

But yet we still keep having people on here complaining about the heat in their homes, I've spent thousands on gadgets over the years but my a/c is probably one of the best things I purchased in over a decade, the other night it was reaching 30c in my room and I honestly wanted to hug my a/c unit after it was on for 20mins, they are relatively inexpensive, a couple of hundred pounds gets you respectable unit these days, for the convenience of being able to have cool air pumped into your room at the flick of a switch, it's a pittance seriously.

What I do is open my window wide open, and put my tall, adjustable fan right in front of it. This draws in the cold air from outside, resulting in a nice cold room. ;)

Sitting in my room is like sitting in the desert, it's about 40 degrees when my PC gets going, can't even play games at the moment, and to make it worse my window only opens about 3" from the bottom so no wind can get in, EVER!

Been a lack of breeze on Friday although a little better y'day. My room is around 28oC in the morning and then hits 30-31oC after noon time. I splash on a bit of cold water every now and then to keep me cool and keep the fan going.

I generally have my fan next to my desk, so it's blowing air onto my face. It makes me feel cooler but as soon as I turn it off, it's like uhh..

Think it would be better having it by the window just blowing air in?
Windows are as wide open as they can and blinds are all the way down

Ceiling fan, for £30 you'll be able to sleep again. Fitted one in both the bedrooms of the place i've lived and now in the girlfriends too.

+1 keep cooler during day to stay cool at night, draw curtains south facing keep windows open north facing, then flip when the sun goes down

This works rather well. I've never found it necessary to use fans and air con in this country. Sleeping naked uncovered with a window open is just fine.

The ultimate solution for all the whimps who can't cope with a little warm weather is to pitch a tent and sleep in it. :p:cool:
