Need good Sata 3 Raid card

Hey guys,

So I got two new 1TB drives from OcUK, can't remember the exact ones but they have 64MB cache and Sata 3 to boot. Stand alone the drives acheive 142MB/s write, but with on board raid (P55-GD80, Raid 0) I only get 112MB/s.

So here's the deal, I'm looking for a nice robust Raid controller (PCI-e) that is going to provide me with various RAID options and give me the essential bandwidth my motherboard lacks (Well it does have another 5 hard drives in RAID, so I can't blame it).

Any suggestions are much appreciated

No need for SATA3, 140MB/s per drive isn't even half the throughput of SATA2, hell you could get by on SATA1.

If you're just running two drives in RAID0/ RAID1, any cheap PCI-E 4x RAID controller will do (<£20). If you want to do something more complicated, I'd probably pick up a Perc 5/i on eBay. You could even migrate your 5 drive array over onto the Perc and use your onboard.

I've decided to just take out the old array, and just put the two 500GB drives in as JBOD. Should ease up on the motherboard controller. And give me a free Sata port for an SSD.
