iOS4 - iPhone 3G

I assume going into O2/Apple and complaining about this won't get me anywhere?

I'm finding it absolutely ridiculous, lag on everything. Using it has become very frustrating.

I've noticed streaming tv such as tvcatchup just lags the phone, sound is fine but the picture goes into slow-mo after so many mins. movies on the phone are fine though? bbc iplayer seems ok too, very odd.

I've noticed this too. Was trying to watch the tennis on TVCatchup and the picture turned into a slideshow after about five minutes. It lagged so much that the audio continued for about ten seconds after I closed Safari. Not really good enough. I might restore to 3.1.3 since 4.0 gives me practically nothing.

ive noticed that my 3G just feels quite a bit snappier at scrolling in the menu and loading/closing apps. I have noticed that it seems a bit slower when opening my sms or email inboxes though.

Another annoyance is the lack of orientation lock on the 3G with iOS4 :( I was quite looking forward to that as there's nothing more annoying than lying in bed on the net and having the screen constantly rotating!

was this in the previous version because i too have this issue but not with the net but listening to podcasts I cannot go back and forward through songs or change the volume when it's horizontal

Oh can someone tell me why some of the features in version 4 only work on late 2009 models of 3rd Gen touches? I got my touch in August 2009 and there's no folder option I was under the impression that the3rd gen touches had the same architecture as the 3GS?

I updated my 3G to iOS 4 and have noticed the speed drop also, it's really quite a difference. I hope apple release some kind of update to sort this issue out because it feels like i have degraded the phone now.

My 3g has been in the wars, and i'm currently waiting till christmas to update to the 4th gen, as there most probably will be a 4's' by then :)

But my iPhone, in its battered, scratched greatness seems to be fine, still quick doing everything, especially when opening app folders, messages etc.. :)

My 3GS seems good, faster at loading apps if anything. Had a few delays with the ifooty app, but I put that down to server strain during the world cup (hard to tell if it was connection based, or just laggy hardware though)

4S will be July just like the 3GS was a year after the 3G

rather than making a new thread on os4.

what is the bar when you double press the home button? is it history or the multi tasking?

and...

how do you make folders?

Upgrade my 3gs to os4 today all seems ok but i have noticed some people have game center installed were as i dont :(

It was a developer preview, and as such has been removed on the offical release. All you could do was add friends so you aren't missing anything.

The bar is multitasking. Swipe left to see all apps or right for music controls and orientation lock.

Hold over an icon until they all jiggle about and then drop it on top of another to make a folder.

3G 8GB here and I installed OS4 today. No issues with me and it seems to run faster most of the time. Some times slows down a bit in the menus but apart from that it's fine.

Took about 30mins or so to install.

My 3G is incredibly sluggish now that I have updated to iOS 4.0. Asking it to do anything often takes a while for it to respond now, and some of the apps that worked fine under 3.1.3 now sometimes crash under 4.0, even though they haven't been updated since 2.0... I'm just not liking the update as it has made the phone even more frustrating to own.

Well installed it last night but it took at least an hour to get it downloaded, backed up, installed and then restored.

Shame us 3G owners don't get the nice tool bar when you double click the home button for orientation lock. The new dock is nice enough and everything feels pretty quick.

What was slow was the initial boot after updating, where it gathers mail and everything. After using it for a bit I did a reboot and it seems as fast as it was before apart from when navigating the Settings menus.

Not sure if I am that bothered about folders as I think I can find my apps quicker without them but I only have 3 pages of apps. ;)

EDIT: Oh and why can't we have a background wallpaper?
