Harry Potter and the Deatly Hallows trailer

Nah, I do "enjoy" the films, I just have to try and not think about them while I watch them. I'm looking forward to the last two films, (don't get me started on splitting it in to two parts) as a sort of guilty pleasure.

The books are far better and as a massive Harry Potter fan it's difficult.

Yes, let's complain about having stuff missing that was in the books and then complain about it being split into two parts. That makes perfect sense.

So, do you want 1 movie with a whole lot more cut out making it even less true to the book? Would you sit through a 4 hour film? Or does it make sense to split the longest book in the series into two parts so that they can stay at least slightly more true to the book, if not more so?

Jesus, make up your minds...

That's a given though.

Better writting > Better (and the same) direction > Less story to make up for in the last film > Could be done in a single film (Alought I still think it would be a long 3 hour film easily but the others are of a similar length and did well)

But then you're assuming that another writer might be able to fit more into one film, which is probably not true. The book is huge, any decent writer would need 2 films to do it justice.

You couldnt get it all into one film. There are essentially 2 storylines. One for Hallows, one for Horcruxes. One of the biggest points of the book is the deliberation over the importance of each. You couldnt fully tie up both storylines in one film without seriously reducing content of important scenes. That's on top of all the other content that's important. Malfoy Manor, for example, The wedding, the funeral, Xenophillius Lovegood, Neville at the School... there's too much for one film, no matter how you condense it.

You'd fit more in to less.

You'd be able to have more in the other films, as far as a story line arch, characters and sub plots go.

Any decent writter would be written all the films better and been able to fit it in to the single film.

It's more about the money you'd make from having two films.

While money is probably a large part of it, a good writer will want to respect the artistic integrity of the book and the only way to do that, to do it justice and be respectful as possible is to make it into two films. The book is huge, a single movie would miss out so much stuff regardless of the talent involved in writing it.

Never read any of the books as I cba with book reading but i've enjoyed all of the films up to now apart from The Half Blood Prince which was a total snoozefest.

This new one looks excellent though.

As soon as I saw the '...in 3D' part i let out a massive groan and a commonly used term of frustration ending in 'sake!!'.

Why do they have to make everything like that, it's not even going to be used to good effect no doubt!

Really am looking forward to these, Half Blood Prince was a bit of a let down so hoping these make up for that.

The changes do bug me but I've learnt to ignore that and just think of it as a different story, haven't read the books in a looong time and in all honesty they aren't that great anyway, anything that makes the story from the last book move a little faster is all fine by me.

As long as Snape's story is told well and not butchered I don't mind what they do, as that is the highlight of the series for me.

Given that I feel the Half Blood Prince was the only Harry Potter film that was even bearable, I'd hope that this travels further in that direction.

No doubt the books will be slaughtered, by both the screenplay and Daniel Radcliffe, but hopefully it'll still be enjoyable. I've high hopes.

im a lazy man so i went ahead and got the audio books by Stephen fry, a word by word reproduction and Stephen fry does them absolutely perfect, he really brings them alive. I love the harry potter series and think its one of the most immersive universes ive been drawn into and love the films as much, looking so foreword to this and expect great things, have to agree though the 3d thing is a bit meh.

Is harry potter such a puff in the books as he is in the films? I get so mad when he's supposed to be some powerful wizard and yet he doesn't seem to be able to do anything he seems to know 1 decent spell and when its against anyone of power its useless. If i was him id be walking around like a BOSS. Shirt unbuttoned , collar up. Hermione would be all over my wond.
