Yeah I do. That is what I thought. It just comes up with an error saying wrong zip. As "andy" said I put the larger file (100mb+) on the top and the smaller on the bottom.

I don't know what is going on. Crapping my pants when the exclamation mark came up and couldn't get it to go after a couple of attempts. Then I load up SEUS and do a factory reset and update, phone turns on ok and it appears so has the most recent update. Lol

Its nothing to worry about. :p

It happens from time to time, if you bricked the phone you won't be able to turn it on :D;)

I'm back on R2BA020 now. :)

All rooted.

The first part is a pain in the ass. However, few things I am noticing.

1. The firmware version isn't R2BA020, as the baseband is different.
2. It's a bit baggy in places compared to the R2BA020.
3. My headphones no longer work.

So I am not sure at the mo if this is going to stay on here.

its supposedly IS R2BA020 but the phone just doesnt report that. (well thats what devs say on XDA) i have reason to believe them because if you dont run step 4 then you end up with both docamo spalshcreen and some o2 apps (germany 020 i guess)

baggy ?

my headphones work the same as usual , used them when out on bike this morning. infact i just tried a different 'bigger' set too to make sure and they are working aswell

very strange :o

what benchmark app where using before ? ill give it a go !

actually screw all that because i just realised that my clock is running slow !!!!!! although because im daft i have no idea wether its the rom or its a problem with ADW/taskkiller which i had before

edit- fixed istself when i went into area with signal... strange

the root guide has an updated step 3 and 4 in the 4th post that looks better but i seriously CBA. id flash to official R2....20 if SE would actually blooomin release it

I think first and foremost the root method needs to use official generic firmware but with su access enabled.

Then there should be the options of using other custom firmware. I appreciate that because SE haven't released the generic version of r2....20 firmware there's a slight problem. Should use r1...16 still.

Most of the post-root problems in the xda thread are related to the removing and addition of apps done in step 4.

I'm also amazed at the number of people jumping into the procedure with very little idea of what to do if things go wrong. They don't even know how to flash back to stock. The number of people expecting to magically flash android 2.1 or 2.2, not just in the root guide thread but entire subforum is also surprising.

edit:

I see that step 4 has been modfied with step 5 created for "cleanup". Good move and removes the post-root problems I mentioned.

I know, there does seem to be some confusion to "root" access and "bootloader" access.

Its a good start, but i am going to hold off for the moment as its not perfect :D

Andy, in the past once a phone has been rooted, how long has it taken to get bootloader access? I was under the impressions to get e.g. 2.1/Froyo ROMs, we would need bootloader access?

Has anybody heard anything about the new update yet?

It was due at the tail end of last week. However, SE have found a problem with the R2BA020 firmware, so they have put it on hold at the moment. I don't know if its because of developers now have root access to the phone or there is another reason. Another possible reason is its a OpenGL problem that I have read about. However, its shouldn't be much longer hopefully.

Generic UK firmware appears to be live.
check the software update on your phones.

Network Error.

I'm guessing the servers are getting hammered.

OTA should mean I lose nothing right?

edit:

41 meg download

Do I have to back stuff up?
