I'm praying that the battery issues are fixed now, 2% loss per hr on 3g mode would be ideal limit tbh giving good standby times

How did you get on with the root? :D

Thats a shame. I guess that UK networks don't use public ip addresses for 3g? I've just started using andro web desktop (great app btw) and can't connect to my phone using the 3g connection.

It works great over wifi though!

Yet another turn in my battery dilemma. It appeared to be better but if I leave the data connection on it just starts tumbling again (with new update)

Very strange.

What do you have running in the background, as I normally get easily over a day now on the new firmware

Not a lot. Battery indicator, ADW launcher. It drops like a fly when I start using the internet, when I am not - I turn everything off.

root working ok then andy ? i never did it lastnite as i had an interview this morning and all i could imagine was a buggy clock/alarm making me miss it. about to boot into windows and root it in a second

going to try backing up with SEs backup tool too. see how it does

If I use the new backup/restore feature to backup my phone. Root the phone. Can I use the restore feature to get my call logs etc back ?

Hi all,

Many of you have been asking about the software update coming to the Xperia X10 this summer and we are pleased to share the details of it today.

This update will be gradually rolled out across our markets over the coming weeks, pending the completion of quality approvals for individual markets and operators. The first updates are now live across selected markets. Please check with your local Sony Ericsson customer support when the upgrade will be available for your market and network.

When the update is available in your market you will receive a message in the notification bar of your X10. The easiest way to get the new software is to accept this update – you can use your mobile network connection or a WiFi connection for the download. Alternatively you can update your phone using your PC – please visit http://www.sonyericsson.com/update and follow the instructions.

This update focuses on improving the general performance, speed and responsiveness of Xperia X10. For example, there are speed improvements in messaging tasks and camera UI. In addition we add a free back up and restore application so you’ll never lose your settings and information. In selected markets, PlayNow™ with premium apps and games will also be added.

We hope you like these improvements. Please continue to interact with us. We listen to your feedback.

Regards
Mattias

hmmm, I have updated (not rooted) and connected to pc companion. Its telling me there is an update ...

Shall I update ? I already have the latest

I have always had 3g mode and data connection available when using my phone. Before this update, I have very consistently had the battery run 14hrs.

Since the update (including the update process which used a chunk of the battery) 35% after 21hrs. Remember that the update process reset the timer and so I expect 36hrs+ battery life.

Another indicator of problems resolved is what is now using the battery the most. Before update it was cell standby and phone idle, while now (as it should be) it is the display.

Very pleased with this update.
