Lol, that is a terrible generalisation.

My point wasn't that people chose to eat "better" food, I literally meant why do people hate Mcdonalds so much.

Because it doesn't taste nice, doesn't contain the nurtition I'm after, and doesn't really satiate the appetite. And whilst not that expensive, for what it is, it's pretty poor.

Another reason why I hate fast food, is because people rely on it and use it as a staple part of their diet rather than a treat or an occaisonal way to eat. People convince themselves it's not that bad and it's almost preferred to good wholesome foods - which is scary, as in the long term the more people move away from high quality wholesome foods, the demand will deminish, and therefore the supply will go away, or become horrendously expensive. I'd much rather people demanded more high quality wholesome foods, to bring the demand back up to regenerate good quality famring in higher proportions which will bring the prices of good quality foods back down to a more enjoyable level.
 
Big corporations would be fined for lying about this stuff. sure you aren't tasting all the chemicals and sugar in the buns.
Oh I know they're in the buns, sauces, and pickles. Their burgers do contain things other than meat though I guarantee it. Or contain the maximum amount of skin, organ and MR Meat from the worst quality cows possible.
Because they don't taste like meat.

I'm well aware what counts as meat under UK law, Do you? There's a massive difference between advertising something as meat and advertising something as a specific cut with no additives.

In a burger patty you can have a certain percentage as skin, offal and MRM before you can no longer say it's 100% meat. It's decieving.

Did you see the program Hugh Fearnley what's his face did with the people who were eating fast food and ready meals... and they took the stuff they were eating to a lab and the lab tech just started plonking containers of powders and chemicals down infront of the people and saying "that's your lunch that is".
People don't even think about it. Generations of people are stupider and lazier than ever, can't cook and just live off of crap. I'm lucky seeing as I actually had an upbringing of somekind and actually give a thought to what I put into my body.

One of my mates the other day genuinely asked me how to cook dried packet noodles. Boiling water on and microwave til cooked, even I know that and I don't eat that sort of rubbish.

For under £5 you can buy 500g of mince, heck even for under £10 you can buy freshly ground steak mince (which means you can cook it blue!) - that £10 will make you more than 1/2 dozen burgers of bigger size than a McD's "patty". But if you go back to the cheaper less than £5 mince (Again 100% beef), you'll be able to make way more than 1/2 dozen for bigger burgers.

why would you ever want to buy them from a place when you can make them yourself for a lot less I don't know.

Again, for convenience, fast food is great for it, as clearly you can't just buy the meat and cook it in a supermarket (how cool would that be?!). However, IMO, there are much better "fast foods" available out there.

That's to be called a burger or sausage, not what is advertised inside it.

For example to be called a sausage it has to have minimum of 32% meat

The other thing you are talking about is

The definition of meat is hard to explain. Meat can contain certain percentages of fat, connective tissue and skin and still be considered 'meat'. What most consumers consider 'meat' is what we call 'visible lean'. A pork chop is 90 per cent visible lean. A sausage label may say that it contains 60 per cent meat but that could be as low as 15 per cent visible lean.

Which again does not apply to McDonalds As not only does it state cuts, it states whole cuts.

Also MRM has to be identified as such, with any amount. It can not be described just as meat.

Rarely, although McD's does serve a purpose when we're off to a gig or something and haven't got time for a proper sit down meal beforehand. I know the food is pretty poor (and I spend a lot of time reading up on food), and no way comparable to a decent burger, but I still enjoy a Big Mac or Quarter Pounder every now and then. I guess it's a guilty pleasure, or something..

You are correct to point out that all McDonald's staff, from the day that they begin their employment with the company, are thoroughly trained in various aspects of hygiene, and within this training, there are very strict procedures that pertain to how often and when hands should be washed. Furthermore the importance of hygiene around food preparation continues throughout their employment. If you wish to work for McDonald's, we insist that you take food hygiene and hand washing as seriously as we do. (Jan 09)
 
I once had a double sausage and egg muffin everyday (including weekends!!) for 2 weeks once. Needless to say I was ill and off work for 3 days after.

I still go once or twice a week now but never for breakfasts.

Greggs is where the breakfast is at, sausage and bacon bap and a coffee for 2 quid!!

Given your well known hate of the giant corporation and evil overlord Tesco is it the food you hate or the success and size of McDonalds you are touting? Everything you have posted in here has been drivel, be it the size of the burgers being smaller, the prices, the fact you "know" that there is other things in the burgers.

Quite where your local McDonalds is I would love to know. Bar the big tasty and legend meals you can get a large meal for well under a fiver. Never been charged for dips either. I dont think many people will dissagree that on the whole Burger King taste better but you pay a decent sum more for it. And as anyone knows KFC > All.

Anyhoo, its not often we visit the big yellow M. Once a month, maybe twice at a push.
 
I wathced the film Food Inc recently which was about the food industry in the US.

MacDonalds are the biggest single buyer of beef and potatoes in the US, and even if you are not buying McD's meat, a lot of the meat you get elsewhere is coming from the same factories.

Interesting film, worth a watch.
 
I voted 5-7, it is probably the lower category but McDonalds is about 30 seconds from my door and I have grabbed a few in a rush etc before.

Reason I buy it? It tastes nice (knowone can tell me different) and its quick with no effort (e.g. fast food, the reason people don't just make their own burgers, its not about value).

Still say the sirloin steak burger from Dallas BBQ in New York was the best i've ever had but nothing wrong with McDonalds in moderation.
 
i find it cheaper to have a mcdonalds then to make food for myself (mcdonalds is more exciting then my own cooking) thats prob why i go twice a week
