Kinect priced in the UK

I've seen some reasonable arguments but don't try and argue Move is any better for price.

I was thinking of picking it up for me and my girls but at £50 for the basic set, £25 for a nunchuck then another £60 for a 2nd set then £40 for 1 game I'd be looking at £165 just for starters.

It's £50 for the camera, The Controller and a starter pack is it not? Which is all you'll need to play. Obviously with Kinect you're not going to need to buy extra controllers so i can see where the savings come in when playing with more than 1 person

Sony move for 2 players is £80 that is if you dont have the camera, its £64 if you do thats for 2 players. Navigators are £21 if you dont want to use a DS3, no move games require 2 wands at present. As i said it aint cheap for any of them (Wii included if you want a second player), but im not sure how much cheaper move could be as its pretty close to Wii mote/M+/ nunchuck price and it includes a recharchable battery. I aslo expect 3rd parties to start making their own version of each move controller, anyway How much is Kinect for 4 players?

Every report I've read so far of someone trying to use a DS3 for the Navigator says it's really uncomfortable and not practical so you're really looking at the extra £23 each for the Navigators. I'm confused also by your statement about no games requiring 2 wands at present? Does this mean there are only single player games confirmed?

As for your how much is Kinect for 4 players? Not sure if you're just trolling as I'm pretty sure you know there's only been 2 player at a time games announced so far (though it's been seen to track as many as 16 at a time on debug units).

Tried it myself its not great but it works fine so if money is tight its an option to get at a later date. I meant no single player requires 2 moves at present seems like for that bow and arrow thing you just push a button and the move changes its "hand", or use both one in each hand. As far as im aware, going from the devs it can see numerous people but the 360 hardware can only track 2 peoples movement due to CPU limitations. Perhaps if the dedicated CPU was kept in kinect it wouldnt be an issue. As for trolling, whatever , seems you can say anything bad about it anything without being a troll.

My daugter and I at the same time? Also at 6 there's no way she could handle the DS in her left hand alone.

Pretty sure that many of the more family games wont require the Nav but i guess we will have to wait and see more about the control situation at a later date. I cant see that they will ever make a 4 player game that requires them both simply becasue the PS3 can only handle 7 BT devices at once looks more likely to be 4 wands only for a 4 player game.

thats the sort of price it would have to be to sell.

The thing is the basic move price point in the US is $99.99.
In the UK it's price is £49.99 rrp and is selling for £46.85

Yet for some reason with a place holder price in the US for Kinect of $150 we're using £129.99 as the base price in the UK, when following the same price conversion as Move we should really be looking closer to £75 and a final selling point around £70.

However if the rumours are true that MS could go for $99.99 as well, we could well see Kinect in the UK for c.£50.

However, it's all moot at the moment as nothing has been confirmed though MS should get a move on as this delay is just adding fuel to the anti-Kinect fire.

PlayStation Move controller £31.83
Navigation controller £22.85

On a competitors site, so £54.68 for the Move & Navi, that's very respectable imo.

The same store has Kinect up for £124.

And with regards to Kinect hitting £50 in the UK, no chance, not any time soon anyway.

At £130 it'ss very overpriced. But, as it's not even got an official price yet it's pointless discussing is, and even more pointless bringing up Move Vs Kinect!

Even if it's "only" £50 it's still going to be an expensive addition. If you have the original style of Xbox 360's then as mentioned you'll need the adapter and then there's the games as well so it's probably going to work out at over £100 for the camera type device, the power adapter and a game. Ridiculous in my opinion, just like Move it'll be nothing more than a stupid gimmick with Microsoft and Sony trying to get in on a bit of the housewife action that the Wii was so good at. That ship has sailed in my opinion and nobody is going to give a rats ass about either system. Sure, some ADHD kids will probably want Kinect, and a few people will get Move but the amount of time and money these systems have had spent on them I think they are going to be failures.

I think there is some confusion about this "adaptor". I suspect the Kinect will come with the following:

1) camera unit (with holes for 2 cables)
2) Cable from camera to "new" xbox 360 (handles data and power)
3) Usb cable from camera to old 360 (data)
4) PSU from camera to mains. (power)

If you have the "new" 360 you just need to use 1 and 2, if you have the "old" 360 you will use 1, 3 and 4.

Also, I suspect, this £130 price is just websites guessing what they would sell Kinect for (based on a USA price of $150). I know that is not a direct conversion, but these things seldom are.

Hopefully it does come out ludicrously expensive and bombs massively.

Then we can get back to doing some proper gaming. With an actual controller...

The US move bundle contains a full move game, our move bundle only contains a demo games disk so thats why the price difference.

What doesn't surprise me any more is we're having a debate about how expensive MS Kinect might be as opposed how expensive Sony Move actually is.

Sony move isn't cheap either. I was just pointing out an old argument a lot of people used to make when comparing the price of a PS3 to the cheapest 360 SKU. With Kinect, you get everything in one package (the ps3) but with move, you have to buy a bunch of other stuff (like a core 360). In the end, both turn out to be just as expensive as each other... but move has the advantage of having a lower entry point. Thats if Kinect really does cost £130.

Maybe some people don't want move for MP games and they already have a Wii with 4 controllers. Thats the situation I am in anyway.

At £50-£70 i would have bought it, just to give it a try out.
If it does come out at that type of money, it will be in the bargain basement bin within the year. As i will find it hard to believe, people are going to pay the same amount for a add-on, as the console itself.

Anything above £50 and i wont be interested in it simple as that...sell it for £50 and they will sell by the bucketload.

Hey!! You guys stop bad mouthing abooies kinect ok!!

What the price if the move has to do with kinect is beyond me though.

Agreed with the general view in that the price seems a bit steep. That said, irrespective of the price I'm not sure either the PS move or Kinect has really excited me to any great extent.

As has already been said, I think those interested in games reliant on motion technology will most likely already have a wii and neither Sony nor MS have taken this forward to a new level. IMO, and feel free to disagree, I can't see either doing too well. The ship has already sailed -for this generation's consoles anyway.
