Garfield is Spiderman!

He annoyed me quite a bit in The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus. Didn't have much hope for the reboot before this news, to be fair... The important casting will be that of the villain(s).
 
Why are they rebooting this already? Its not even been a decade yet since Spiderman 1. Has Hollywood become so desperate for ideas now that we are going to start repeating movies that only came out a few years earlier??
 
Essentially, Sony need to churn out a Spider-man movie every few years, or the rights go back to Marvel. And as Raimi and Maguire weren't going to be able to make the next deadline, Sony need a new director and Parker. So the whole thing is being rebooted.

Surely they could have continued the story though instead of rebooting it back to the start again?

I'd have agreed with this meself. Seems as though the Sony bean counters see it as a chance to milk it for another 3 or 4 movies, whereas the current story arc was running out of villains.
 
Just what the spiderman franchise needs, another origin story.

Still Spidey 3 was such a mess it could turn out ok
 
Really though.

There's still tons of villans they could take on, they've not touched the Kingpin, or Morphious (the vampire) or black cat, or the lizard, or mysterio and so on and so on...
 
Im looking forward to seeing what direction they go with it, tbh i would have boycotted another movie with Maguire in it, there's only so much crying and jazz dance routines i can stomach before i say "NO!!!!":mad:

From what I have read they are going with the Peter Parker as a teenager at college angle....so no doubt on the back of the success of Twilight it will be all teenage angst and emo love

No change then, Maguire and Dunst were the biggest pair of misrable emos i have ever seen, i thought Dunst was going to wind up cutting her wrists at one point.
 
I think its pretty obvious why there rebooting it. after 3 movies i doubt most people are just going to accept that peter parker has changed. it would be like making die hard 4 but with steve from surrey.

Why not just make a different movie and leave the spiderman ones at the 3? Is it really that hard to come up with something different. It's not like there is a shortage of comic superheroes out there to be made into films.
