Currently running a V2000 with PA120.3, D5, Apogee on 775. I used the Masterkleer tubing with 1/2" barbs. Can't remember the size but it slipped over the barbs and with a hairdryer it shrank over and produced a water tight fit. I prefered this over jubilee kits and never had a problem. Obvioulsy things have moved on so I'm looking for some advise on my I7 setup.

I'm planning to buy a 980x or one of the new 970. Graphics I'm running a 5870. It needs to be totally silent but have the flexibility for some heavy tweaking/benching when needed.

My new build is based on the 800D and I have just bought

XSPC RX360
EK250RES2 Multioption V2
3X 120mm AKASA AK-FN059 HDB Viper Fan

For the pump I'm looking to use my existing D5 with a EK-D5 X-TOP?

For graphics I'm looking at the EK FC5870 5870 CF, Acetal, Full Cover Block?

For CPU the Apogee XT?

I'm also thinking of the Aquaero 4.00 "Powerbooster"? to regulate the fans and possibly the D5 but I'm not sure there's going to be enough watts spare with only 45 watts on tap.

I'm unsure about what connectors to go for and tubing. I like the bitspower stuff. I would like to be able to easily remove and add things. Also unsure about filling. The res might be a pain, fill port at the top of the case?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

use the EK supreme HF for the CPU, bit better than the XT

this might sound weird but don't get an 800D, get a Coolermaster 690 II advanced (emphasis on the II), then you can put dual 280 rad's in, Black Ice SR1's would be the best bet and use some yate loon D14SL-12's, they are very quiet, my GTX 470 at idle easily drowns them out

pump seems good, for the reservoir I'd rather go with a swiftech MCRES, smaller spacial footprint.

for tubing I'd go for 1/2" because you're cooling the GPU and CPU, use barbs, shrinking the tubing and jubilee clips, just to be safe

Thanks for the input. Case, rad and res I already have. Case on looks, rad on low fan and pump speed performance. Res again love the look.

I will have a look at the EK block. I would like to avoid the jubilee clips never had a problem in the past but I know why you are recommending them.

Any thoughts on the bitspower connectors?

Another vote for the EK Supreme HF. It's a fantastic block. I have the universal black acetal version and not only does it fit all current sockets but it look's good as well.

I would'nt have bothered changing rads as they are both similar performers.

Using 7/16" XSPC tubing here but i do use hose clips just in case. I do have some compression fittings (where they will fit) but they are not Bitspower. Personally i think they are overpriced. I have a XSPC 250mm passive res so filling is'nt a problem for me. It's not something that you would probably want hanging on your case though.

never bought the bitspower connectors, didn't see the point in paying 400%+ extra for something only a little bit better.

All the hardware seems good.

The Aquero is a little pricey imo.

Have a look at a ' T-Balancer ' ;

I use one for all my fans, and it controls the lighting . Could use it for the pump control if its actually needed *

* the D5 with the EK X-top will be silent on setting 4 , from experience, and thats powerful enough for the loop you suggest. Just needs to be mounted on some foam to kill vibration ( like all pumps )

Generic comp fittings will do the job, but Feser / Bitspower are regarded as the better ones.

I changed rads because my current pa120.3 is not on 15mm spacing. Asked around but didn't see anyway of modding the rad to fit. Didn't want to hack the case.

Will have a good look at the EK Supreme. Would be nice for a block where the bracket can be upgraded for new CPU's. I have a fair few blocks now.

Looked at the T-Balancer and it was initially my first choice but the reliance on the OS to drive it swayed me to the Aquero. I'm assuming no issues with W7 64?

Yep, fair point, it needs to run in Windows.

I'm running Vista x64 , so couldn't help on Win 7 compatability.

After a bit of reading I'm swapping the XT for the EK supreme HF, thanks :)

Just knowing what to do about connectors and tubing. Thinking about a fillport at the top and using some connector type for draining at the bottom.

I have a spare 120.1 do you think there would be much mileage adding this to the loop? Would just replace my current H50 and would fit OK.

The new kryos xt is marginally better than the ek supreme hf and has a much better mounting system, sourcing one in the uk might be tricky as they have just come out.

You could get the .925 solid silver version for £166.97 :D

it also costs 3x as much (iirc) and is less than 0.2C better along with having a higher restriction

Well for me anyway it's not just about cooling performance. I want something that looks nice with some fine detail but I also don't want to go mad. 3X ranks going mad.
